Part 48: Five Gemstones - Battle

Chapter 21 Battle

Seal Time

Nah resets her level, allowing her to keep her massive stats while gaining EXP like a brand new character all over again. Basically, she's going to kill things too well even better.

Brady switches over to Sage, gaining some magic which is useful since that's all he's been really using as a War Monk.

Nowi's back for some reason. I don't understand this sudden revival, but eh more dragon-likes.

This is probably the first map when we really have to kill the commander ASAP.

The stairs on the far right and left will spawn Mire Sorcerers, and the stairs in between will also spawn enemies that will eventually overwhelm you or snipe one of the weak units (fliers especially will die fast).

Nowi weakens a nearby Swordmaster without trouble, making way for Yarne to safely take the kill. He gets a Master Key from the body.

Anna throws out a rare Tome fling, then Gerome has Vaike support him in the axe-down.

It's a real shame defense means almost nothing with every other enemy having forged wind tomes or Silver Bows.

Also, how the hell did you miss strength?

Henry takes out the last nearby enemy, leaving just a few strong Shepherds in range of the next batch.

Every enemy turn starts out with the Mire assholes trying to snipe our units.

Enemy Phase Music: Annihilation

Enemy Battle Music: Annihilation (Galvanized)

It's a good day to be Henry when he's getting 97% on an Assassin.

Like father, like son.

Gerome gets the next turn going by bashing the Sorcerer and gaining that strength from last time.

Donny drank his milk today.

The Ylissean murder duo team-up to take down a Berserker, then Brady moves ahead to Rescue Yarne.

Yarne chips this Mire annoyance down to the brink of death as the rest of the team move down to the exit.

The first of many Mire spawns, completely unreachable by us since we don't have a Mire tome ourselves.

Chrom takes down a Swordmaster (Doubles him, even!) and gets a decent level. He learns Defender, which gives +1 to all stats when paired-up. Decent bonus in a no-grind run.

Anna opens the door for Gerome to swoop in and take out a Mire dude. He gets a Concoction after the battle.

Nowi takes out the Mire doodoo head. Yarne uses his Locktouch to open up a Secret Book. Hmm, stat boosters! Wonder if Vaike is still hungry.

Donny gets some assistance from Chrom to take out another Sorcerer, doing a Donny thing as a reward.

That's just really dumb that Nah got 100 EXP from killing that Assassin.

Henry continues to rampage through his former comrades. Noire joins on the fun by transferring Owain's support bonuses to take out the other Sorcerer.

Anna opens up the middle-middle chest for something that no one on our team can currently use. Oh well, to the market you go.

After Donny does his usual job of weakening to near-death a target, Noire comes in and builds up some sword rank.

The turn ends after a few more movements forward and Brady Rescuing Anna.

Anna could very well be one of our best Tome-users considering she can support Tiki, but between Staves and Doors/Chests, she just doesn't have the luxury of combat.

She gets her first chip level at least.

Chrom uses up a Chest Key from his convoy to open the middle-right chest.

Brady on the other hand doesn't get a great level for his deeds.

See what I mean by defense not mattering for fliers? Gerome has 28 defense which is decent, but it just gets shredded like paper tissue against the forged bows.

What

WHAT?!

Oh, for Gods sake

Yes, please Henry just kill everyone to make me feel better after...that. He gets a Master Key added to the treasure collection.

Forged Silver Sword? Might as well have been made out of pudding.

Wonderful. Not only yet another Mire nuisance to roll the die on dodging, but 4 more enemies spawn from the first set of staircases.

Henry counterkills for an excellent level. I will not say hexellent, damn you.

Donny takes out a Swordmaster and weakens a Sorcerer. The Berserker from the spawn heads for Vaike.

Okay, let's try this next level.

Gerome, you may have had a few bad levels but you are still better than Vaike. Or at least make me less annoyed.

Gerome's Sorcerer drops a Ruin tome.

Eh, that's fine. Yarne is unusually slow anyway so he needed that.

We're doing fine right now, but that's before triggering about 3 more reinforcements.

A couple Rescues to move the Gerome and Vaike to end the turn.

Every single stat, AND HP+2. Nah is eating all of the terrible growths, apparently.

Seems like it's critical or nothing lately.

More Mire Sorcerer cheatery and only one spawn for the lower staircase since I blocked the other 3.

Henry runs ahead to add another Mire Sorcerer to his tally. Anna gains a level off Rescuing Brady.

Yarne open sesames more death for Gerome to invoke.

Please don't stop, Noire.

Another Mire Sorcerer crapbag, along with 4 spawns that appear from the bottom stairways.

I am so sick of Sorecers, Plegia, get variety. I know you have Sages around!

Lucy might actually reach 20 magic sometime in this LP (currently at 18).

Yarne opens up a Large Bullion for the last chest. Brady Physics for more healing juice.

Yeah...I think we're done here. We need to kill the boss now.

The bare minimum for a level, eh Vaike....

Just getting a few extra hits before the map's over.

Lucy takes out another Sorcerer, but more enemies spawn at the bottom stairways.

No, please, stay awhile. Stay...forever!

Algol can't hit a solo Anna with no Rally Spectrum. Shameful. Keep in mind Lucky Seven's worn off by then, too.

The rest of the attacks are non-tactical and are just free hits until I kill the commander.

Donny misses out on magic but gains Axebreaker.

And there's your first glimpse of a capped stat.

He drops a Bolt Axe, a B rank axe that uses magic like Levin Sword with 14 Mt at 1-2 range.

*After the battle*

Almost there! The exit is just— Wait. Do you feel...

*Validar teleports in and hits Chrom*

Run all you like—you can't escape fate. Don't you know that?

Father!

The Fire Emblem. Give it freely, or it will be taken.

Just try it!

Heh heh... I won't need to do anything... Robin!

Robin?

Seize the Emblem and bring it to me.

Nngh, no, I... Aarrrgh!

*Robin takes the Emblem and inserts the last gem*

At last, the Fire Emblem belongs to me. And with my Gemstone, it is complete! Now, to set the Table and perform the rite...(Teleports)

Nngh...

Ah! Nngh...ahh... What have I...done?!

Robin! We must go!

Chrom, I'm sorry! I don't...know what came over me... I'm so sorry!

I know you are, but right now we need to focus on getting out of here!

...Understood.
