Part 70: Paralogue 7: Noble Lineage (Brady)

Paralogue 7: Noble Lineage

Maribelle's Paralogue is located above Chapter 16. It's unlocked when she gets an S Rank with someone, so Libra will help keep her blonde hair heritage alive.

S Conversation: If that's a jest, I'm not laughing. And if it isn't, I'm laughing even less!

That's a lot of terrible married people Maribelle knows if that's the first thing that pops in her head.

Let's recruit her kid.

The strong rise to the top while the high-borns try to keep the blue blood inside 'em.

Hold, defiler! This is sacred ground! Your wickedness will be punished!

By who? The same gods that abandoned me when I was starving as a boy? When you see the gods, tell 'em I said they can rot in hell!

(Stabs Elder)

Hnngh! Gah...

Brady, no! There's nothing you can do! Who would tend to the injured if we lost you?

But...

We'll fight as best we're able! You help from the rear lines. (leaves)

Ugh!

Good people are dying, and I can't help! If only I could fight...

*From a distance*

Chrom! We have to hurry!

What's wrong, Maribelle?

There're people fighting just over that ridge! LOTS of people!

They look like they need help. Let's go, Shepherds!

So this map is a bit interesting. Brady is by far the easiest to recruit out of the kids, and none of the villagers have to be saved to beat the mission. In fact, this is a Kill Commander objective, meaning some fancy Rescue tricks can kill the boss as soon as turn 1.

But that's a waste of EXP.

Xalbador is pretty tough, especially if Sol activates at any point.

The Paladins are the slowest units on the map, which tells you this place isn't messing around. There's really not enough units to plug the holes using the usual pair-up strategy, so some people will have to go solo.

Kjelle makes a surprising entrance, beating out Lissa and Olivia who would've been more useful for the map. And Tharja. Oh boy, Tharja...

Nowi gets a Tiki's Tear, and Tharja drinks another swig of Skill Tonic before starting the mission.

Don't you worry! We're happy to help! If there's one thing this world needs less of, it's wretched bandits...

Wait. I know that voice. Is that...Ma?

I mean he's literally right next to you, it can't get any easier.

Pardon me, you mannerless cur!

I'll not stand to be laughed at by a base scoundrel of your ilk!

...Yep. That clinches it. You must be Maribelle.

And just how do you know that?!

Do you leer at me from behind the shades of whatever den of iniquity you frequent?! Hmph! I bid you good day! (leaves)

I guess you've always been like this.

Still...it's good to see you again.

And now that I've found ya, I'm afraid you're stuck with me.

If Chrom recruits Brady

An enemy?! Damn! Guess that's it for me... Sorry, Ma. Looks like I won't be home for supper after all. Do your worst, tyrant! I can't fight back anyway!

You seem to be doing just fine to me.

I'm unarmed, genius! Sheesh, anyone with eyes can see that!

And anyone with eyes knows there's more to combat that swinging a blade around. You fight in your own way. Am I wrong?

Pah! Don't patronize me! I'd love to fight more'n anything, but I can't seem to make it work.

I'm sure something will come to you.

...Just who are you, anyway?

My name is Chrom.

What? Y-you're Chrom?!

You know me?

Ma wouldn't shut up about you!

Er, do I know your mother?

Her name's Maribelle.

What?! So you're another traveler from the fut—

So you've already heard? Perfect. Now take me with ya already!

Er, well, I suppose we can find a place for you somewhere...

Brady. Healer. Heals stuff. Also starts at D rank Staff for some reason instead of C like everyone else.

Maribelle Rescues a Villager after talking to Brady. Chrom and Lucina guard the right entrance.

Morgan partners with Kjelle, then takes the lead and hangs in the corner to bait out a Sniper.

Owain and Henry realizes they still haven't gotten an A support and aim to fix that problem. Henry takes guarding post on the left side.

Brady gets a Rescue Staff from her Ma and Rescues a Villager out of the way.

Nowi fronts the small southeast entrance by herself, while Donny and Tharja (with Robin supporting) guard the southern entrance.

Cynthia gets some free EXP to end the turn.

Sniper are definitely one thing that favors the enemies' uses far more than the players. So damn accurate.

The southern team does a nice job of holding the line. Nowi gains a good level while she takes on the high-stat promoted enemies without much trouble.

The eastern entrance is being handled just fine by Team Great Lord.

30 strength now for Lucy. Most impressive.

Lissa's family isn't doing bad, either for the west entrance.

That lack of resistance is very worrisome.

More enemies gather around and get chipped by the entrance guards before our turn starts.

Tharja clears out a Swordmaster and gains A rank Tomes.

Donny chips a Paladin and gains a weird level.

Owain clears out an enemy, then Morgan comes over and transfers Henry to the lead. Unfortunately he fails to procure the high crit chance.

Maribelle heals Henry as much as she can with a Physic Staff, while Nowi continues to play with her toys.

Cynthia finishes off Henry's target before Brady saves herself from that suicide run.

Sigh.

Lucy Aethers a Hero to end the turn.

At times, Tharja proves how absurdly powerful she is.

Tharja kills two enemies and my hopes of her having decent stats. Time and time again I have to say Nosferatu is literally the only reason why she's able to hold her own despite her stats.

Add to the body count.

Lucy skewers a couple foes herself.

The rest of the enemies slowly chip themselves to the brink of death or die. The main focus for the next turn is taking out the Long-bow Snipers since they can reach the Villagers and we don't have enough Rescue Staff units to save them.

Lucy takes care of one while Nowi blasts the Paladin to the ground.

Donny and Robin takes care of the southern enemies, with the latter giving a special good-bye present to the second Long'Bow Sniper.

Cynthia ends her short career as a Peg Knight with a good level. Very thankful her level quotes are short and don't cover half the screen.

Chrom finishes off the last enemy in the east, leaving only the west and north to deal with. His nephew starts off the deed on a Sniper.

I'm really starting to think Morgan wants to be in a melee class after this.

Maribelle heals Morgan and starts where she left off, gaining more magic. Brady Rescues Lucy to get her a headstart to deal with the remaining enemies.

Certainly Maribelle's kid, alright.

Morgan makes a Paladin go ka-blasty and masters Tomes afterwards.

The boss and his entourage start their last and desperate assault.

It would've been worrisome if he missed another Crit.

Brady Rescues the Donnyster and Nowi, who then runs out and awaits the enemies.

Look at all those stats with a Donny B support.

Sure, buddy. Maybe you can yourself a pair of glasses to hit Owain someday.

The two Swordmasters decide that living is overrated and step right into Owain's blade.

I think Owain might be the first to cap out a stat at this rate.

I wonder what new destiny awaits Nowi after she caps out her level?

Morgan takes out the other Sniper, leaving just Xalbador.

Lucy becomes even more deadly with Rightful King, not that she wasn't already competing for the strongest in the game.

Robin gets the honors and finishes the map.

Rally Spectrum is one of the best abilities in the game, in a game full of incredible abilities. It's a command ability that gives +4 to all stats except HP to allies with a 3-tile radius.

Keep in mind that different Rallies stack (So Rally Spectrum+Rally Luck gives all stats+4 with +12 to luck) and if a character has multiple Rallies, they activate all at once. Robin has access to every Rally except Rally Strength thanks to her wide access of classes. These Ralliers are usually called Rally-bots, though it's more optimal to use a DLC/Spotpass character since Robin is a better combat unit with Support access.

A Master Seal drops afterwards.

You've kept this sacred place safe and spared the lives of those within.

We just did what was right.

Would that everyone were so brave! Please, allow me to give you this.

By saving everyone, we get a Mend Staff, Blessed Lance (11 Mt, C rank lance, heals 10 HP every turn), Medium Bullion, Seraph Robe, and a Fortify Staff.

If at least one Villager dies, but some still live

Thank you, sir. The lives we lost cannot be replaced, but your efforts have spared this sacred place.

We truly grieve for those who died.

You did all that could be done, and I am thankful for it. I'm afraid we have little to offer, but pray accept this.

If no villagers survived

You have my thanks for dealing with those bandits. You've done us a kindness, which makes it difficult for me to say this... But this is holy ground. If you've no more business here, I ask that you move on.

...We understand.

(Brady approaches Maribelle)

What did you call me?

The name's Brady. I'm—

I'm sorry, but I only cure physical ailments. Broken bones and the like. You're clearly a deeply troubled individual whose diseased mind is beyond my healing.

Stop talking for a minute and look at this!

That's...my ring!

Then, that makes you...

Right. Like I was trying to say, I'm—

How dare you sneak in here and steal my prized possessions!

Gawds! Stop interruptin' for one blessed second, and check yer ring!

...Oh. It's still here.

That clear things up any, Ma?

Everything save how I gave birth to a common thug!

Aw, come on, Ma! That's harsh!

Sure, I'm not the prettiest guy around, but I'm no thug, and I AM your son!

...And it's good to see you.

...How did I ever permit my child to grow up referring to me as "Ma"?

You gave up tryin' after a decade or so.

Well, can you at least ride? Have you read the classics? Do you play violin? Chess?!

Yeah, all of the above. You beat all'a that junk into me.

Glory be! My son is salvageable after all!

Uh...thanks?

Don't look so forlorn, dear.

You've come a long way, but Mother's here now. I'll take care of things from now on.

*Sniff* I missed you so much, Ma...

Do not even THINK of crying! It does not befit one of your station! *Sniff* Plus, you'll set me off as well...

S-sorry, I just... I... Oh, Ma!

Oh, Brady!

Another healer. Brady's strengths are his great class selections and access to Sorcerer from his Pa is a nice gift. Brady fairs much better as a Healer than Laurent thanks to Healtouch, but otherwise not much else to say besides being another 2nd Gen Support character.

Official Bio: Maribelle's future son. While he looks terrifying, he is more likely to burst into tears than bust out a weapon. The scar on his face is from a stray violin string. The most likely to incur friendly fire.
