Paralogue 11: Twin Wyverns

Fire Emblem AVaikening

So feeding every single stat booster accumulated throughout the game creates one of the strongest characters on the team, rivaling Morgan and Nah/Tiki. You know, if you ignore Morgan having Rightful King or the Manaketes able to literally solo entire maps by themselves without any pair-up or Rally Spectrum.

Vaike will grow pretty fast at least with the Paragon skill equipped.

Cherche's paralogue is near the middle of the 2nd continent, requiring either Chapter 17 beat to reach it or a series of other paralogues along the south. Vaike is stuffed after eating all that money stat boosters, but not enough to propose to Cherche.

S Conversation: I can't wait to see Chrom's face when I tell him I'VE got the prettiest girl!

W-wait, what are you doing?!

Just what it looks like. A wyvern rider without a wyvern to sit on is just a bloke in a lizard hat.

Wyverns are the sacred protectors of this land, not glorified horses to be muzzled!

I'd muzzle you, had I the time. As it stands, I'll take a quicker path to quiet. G'night! (slashes)

Gwargh!

N-no...! Run! (flees)

Your orders, sir?

If word spreads, it'll only get more tedious. Sooo...yes. Better just kill everyone.

*At the entrance of Wyvern Valley*

To Wyvern Valley, milord. Home to Valm's greatest feral wyvern population.

That sounds...interesting. We'll have to be sure and keep our distance.

Shame. My Minerva's fit to burst. She's excited others of her kind are near.

Oh? She doesn't look that excited to me. Not that I can really tell the difference...

Oh, it's easy. She just looks even cuter than normal. Don't you, girl? Don't you look cuter? Who's a goooood wyvern?!

I'll, uh...leave you to her, then.

*At a distance*

Wh-what?! But, sir, my friends!

I'm not fit to fight for anyone.

Th-then...they're lost...

*Back to Chrom's team*

My people are fleeing for their lives from a pack of armed brigands, sir! And now we've gotten separated... Oh, the horror of it all!

Well, today's your lucky day. We'll aid you and your friends.

You will?! Oh, thank you! Please, sir! Give 'em what for!

Wyvern Valley is a series of platforms loosely connected by a bridge, but half of the enemy forces are Wyvern Lords that can ambush at will. There's also the trouble of protecting the Villagers if you want item rewards.

The enemies here are the toughest the Shepherds will see for quite a long while. Morristan has an insane amount of strength, so the plan is to hit him with swords and high-dodge units.

What do we need with the toughest Future Child paralogue mission? No Robin, Henry, Severa, or Tiki, no problem.

That was easy.

No. ...I am Gerome. A traveler.

And a fellow wyvern rider, I see. This is a piece of good news! We fight to keep these villagers alive. Will you aid us?

Why? No man can stop fate.

These people will be killed by spears, traveler. Not fate.

Heh. Spoken like one who has yet to witness fate's implacable cruelty.

So you do nothing, then, save wandering the land in a fog of cowardice? And your wyvern? Has she seen enough? Does she also yearn to surrender?

...... You would know better than I.

What does that mean?

Nothing.

I'll fight if you wish it. Death will always have its due, but perhaps it will accept a few substitutions.

Come, my dear Minerva. Join me on one final flight...

If Chrom recruits Gerome

Are you with the villagers? Who are you?

...I am Gerome. A traveler.

These people are in desperate straits. Will you help us?

It is not for me to interfere in such matters. Death will always have its due.

You would leave innocents to die and lay the blame on fate?

I've seen too much of fate's cruel work to doubt it.

So you would surrender rather than struggle against such cruelty... I cannot understand such thinking. A bleak past doesn't justify condemning the future to bleakness as well. Nonetheless, I cannot force your hand. Join us if you will. (Leaves)

What does he know of bleak futures? It is a fool who breaks himself against fate's tide. That said, I suppose I'm as big a fool as any...

*sigh* Very well, then. Come, my dear Minerva. Join me on one final flight...

Gerome starts out pretty strong since Vaike ate everything under the sun to pass down those stat averages. Otherwise, it's another Wyvern Rider in a game where half the cast can become them for some reason.

Donny will lead to the middle while Noire and Nah will travel to the west.

Chrom helps out Donny against a Swordmaster for the counterkill. I'm enjoying that Donny still has a 99% hit rate with an axe against the highest-level sword user we'll see.

Owain rides with Cynthia to fly over to the southeast platform to await the enemy troops there. Vaike, Donny and Gregor will continue to bait out the majority of the enemies heading for the middle.

Nah is going to solo the west side, no big deal.

Even better.

The middle ground troops get very weakened from attacking Gregor and Donny.

Well, it's one step closer to Aggressor at least.

Owain got hit for some decent damage, but Owain's gift from his mother continues to make him a great tank for solo defense jobs.

Donny chips out the rest of the nearby enemies and gets enough EXP for a level. Just misses out on magic, oh no.

Yarne and Vaike start the clean-up massacre.

Gerome smashes a Sniper. Yes, he wears that black mask everywhere in any class.

Lucy makes use of her C tomes to eliminate one Wyvern Lord. Inigo comes over and transfers Chrom to the front, taking out the Berserker in front of the bridge.

Donny and Brady help in on the blood bath. Lot of axes involved, I just noticed.

And that's the last of the initial forces.

Tell 'em we've got spines that need breaking.

Brady Rescues Donny to attain level 15 and learns Renewal. He could make a decent bait-tank against Sages and Sorcerers because he sure ain't getting a better axe rank any other way.

Donny is going to be a very busy boy.

Nah will move up and take out the rest of the west side forces, triggering a WEXP quote from an Event Tile in the process.

Vaike gains a level already thanks to Paragon. I should note that Vaike has already capped his HP at 80, which I think is the first one to cap anything.

Gregor smashes another Wyvern Lord into mincemeat, while Yarne rides with Noire to clip some wings. Noire gains B rank bows, upgrading her to the Silver Bows she needs for more power.

This is not a good start, Gerome.

Double Aether kills a lot of things, apparently.

Nah reaches the level limit, so bad news is that those last two enemies won't give more EXP. Good news is that they can't damage her, so I don't have to worry still.

Vaike is everywhere.

EVERYWHERE

Cynthia gains EXP so slowly.

Okay, you're off the hook for now.

Inigo's damage output is very low right now, and he can't really kill the Wyvern Lords with a Wyrmslayer since they have the Swordbreaker abilities.

At least he hit 20 strength.

You're back on the hook. The hook is in you.

Wyvern Valley is becoming Death Valley at this rate.

These levels suck.

Just to note, Morristan has the same voice as the Victor dude. So he's a very fancy axe murderer.

That sucks at throwing axes.

Pictured: a rare tome kill by Owain.

This has been a terrible run of levels for the most part, ignoring the Aptitude users.

......

Uh huh.

Gerome takes out the boss.

I hate all of you.

ALL OF YOU

You've saved my hope in humanity, too. I thank you for it. Here, sir. A token of my gratitude

Thanks to you as well, friend.

Take care, now. We'll pray for a safe journey for you and your troops.

The reward for saving all the villagers are a Wyrmslayer, Arms Scroll, Recover Staff, Medium Bullion, and Seraph Robe. The rewards are ordered in the number of villagers saved but since we saved all 5, we didn't miss out on anything.

If 1-4 villagers survived

I owe you for this. We all do. Sorry for the trouble.

You don't owe us anything.

It makes me happy to know there's still folk out there who'll fight for the common man. ...Here. I want you to have this.

You don't need to—

Take care, now. We'll pray for a safe journey for you and your troops.

If you're terrible and let no one survive

......

Forgive me...

The world's to blame, sir... Not you... 'Tis the weak man's lot to suffer... We scramble and run, but...always do our lives end...at the pleasure of the strong...

Damn it! By all the gods, can I save nothing?!

*After the battle*

What is it?

I was hoping you might introduce me to your wyvern.

Why?

To see which of ours is cuter.

Not very sporting of me when mine is the finest in the world, I know.

...Do as you please.

I will, then! Thank you.

...... ...Hee hee!

Oh, but you ARE cute! She's nearly a match with Minerva! ...Nearly so in every way.

Wait, what sorcery is this? They...they look IDENTICAL!

That's because they are identical. They're one and the same.

...M-Minerva? How is that possible?

You could examine her from tip to tail looking for scars and marks if you like. ...Or you could just look at this ring.

I...I know that ring. So then you're...

I am, though I had not intended that we meet.

Why not?

I came back in time so I might release Minerva. Not to seek out parents to whom I've already bidden farewell.

You crossed the bounds of time just to set Minerva free? Whatever for?!

In the future I know, she is among the last of her kind. I...I could not leave her to that solitude.

She is lucky indeed to know someone of such kindness. ...As, I imagine, am I.

Stay your words. I've no intention of getting close to you. Fate will not be mocked.

This war may claim your life anew, and I'll not weep twice for losing the same mother. My burden is heavy enough.

But yet you carry it still.

That's enough. (leaves)

Exras

Gerome
Starting Class: Wyvern Rider
Weapon Ranks: Axes (C)
Abilities:
-Strength+2
-Tantivy
-Wrath
-Quick Burn

Reclass options: Wyvern Rider, Fighter, Priest, Barbarian, Thief

Base stats (Growths as Vaike's child)

HP: 48 (105) Spd: 18 (51)
Str: 23 (76) Lck: 13 (41)
Mag: 3 (15) Def: 21 (51)
Skill: 19 (56) Res: 4 (13)

Gerome has only one mission: to kill an enemy as hard as possible. All his reclass options except Thief gives him free reign to swing his axes with his monstrous strength growth, preferably in the support role where his average speed growth won't be such a flaw. Maybe shore up his incredibly low resistance down the Priest tree since Rescue Staves can trurbo-level anyone.

Official Bio: Cherche's future son. He has concerns about meddling with the past and wears a mask to minimize interactions -- but like the other children, he wants his parents back. The last to fall asleep at night.
