Paralogue 16: Daughter to Dragons

Seal Time

The thread votes in another Hero to the ranks. On one hand, get some class variety but on the other hand, it could've been worse. Could be yet another Thief that will be abandoned or a tome/healer with her pathetic magic stat.

Nowi's paralogue is located in the upper-right part of the 1st continent, unlocked after she gets an S-rank.

S Conversation: People forget I've been around the block a few thousand times.

EEEEEEK! Ha ha...haaaaaa... Just a statue. Nothing to be afraid of...

AAAAAH! What the heck is that?! (runs for her life)

I can turn into a dragon... What am I worried about?

Now how do I get out of this wretched place?

*At the manor's entrance*

Nah's paralogue is a confusing maze with a gimmick you'll see soon.

The boss isn't so bad, but the problem is that most of the mooks are stronger than him.

Revenants are new to us but they are regulars for the Risen skirmishes on the map. They're not remotely strong but give boosted EXP like Thieves.

Chrom, Anna, Cordelia, Severa, Lucina, Owain, Tiki, Gregor, Henry, Cynthia, Robin, Morgan, and Nowi. I don't know where my footage of the team select went.

Two things to note on this map besides the gimmick is that this is a Kill Commander map and Nah does not need to be recruited to join the party.

Tiki goes on ahead to bait out a Sorcerer, while the rest of the team move behind.

Chipping out the Sorcerer maxes out Tiki's level.

Man, it's been a quite a while since Nowi's axed up some fools.

Tiki goes on ahead and uses up a Second Seal to reset her level. She'll regain levels very quickly as she's treated as a level 15 character for EXP purposes.

Worst thing about Revenants is that their attack animation is really slow to the point of tempting me to turn off animations just when facing them.

Leif's Blade is a 4 Mt, 30 crit D rank sword with 20 uses and comes with the Despoil skill. It's mostly for making money, but it can act as a poor man's Killing Edge.

Here's the gimmick of the map: the walls collapse. If you're near a wall, it won't collapse but when you move away from it, it collapse's the enemy's turn and the troops behind it will bumrush you. Each section of the walls has a door that, once unlocked, will permanently collapse all walls on that section.

Here's another reason why Dark Tomes are the best tomes. Mire is a 10 Mt, C rank dark tome with a 3-10 range with 10 uses. It can't double anyone, it doesn't activate skills, and Dual Strikes can't be triggered. On the other hand, you're doing free damage to a unit that any enemy can't reach you in one turn.

The two notes I mentioned earlier on the map connect for this point. If you had a Mire Sorcerer, you can snipe the boss on the other side of the deployment area to end the map in one turn, depending on the Sorcerer's magic and Olivia.

Cynthia gets a quick level after Rescuing Nah.

It takes one to know one...

Ha-hah! It may look that way, but I'm actually quite old. I'm a dragonkin!

Oh? Well so am I, actua— Wait, are you Nowi?

Wow, nice guess!

It IS you!

All right, I've told you my name. Now you tell me yours.

Nah.

Oh, come on, why not?!

No, NAH. N-A-H. That's my name.

That's a confusing name...

And whose fault is that?!

How the heck should I know? Anyway, this place isn't safe. Let's get you out of here!

After you...

If Chrom talks to Nah

Eeeeek!

Wait! I'm a friend! We're here to help.

Whew, good thing you spoke up there... I was about to melt you with my breath.

Huh? Your breath seems fine to me...? ...Oh. I get it. You're a manakete. So perhaps you'd like to tell me your name?

Nah.

Look, if I somehow offended you, I apologize. But you could at least—

No, NAH. N-A-H. That's my name. Ugh, why does this always happen...

Er, right. Let's discuss it later, okay? For now, just stay behind me.

Behind you? I can turn into a dragon, you know. I'm pretty strong.

Dragonkin or no, you're still a child, and I won't have you taking unnecessary risks. Now let's get you out of here.

Stern, aren't you? Fair enough. I like your attitude. Lead the way, sir—I'm right behind you.

Nah is another product of having two strong parents, and she's only going to get stronger with her papa's Aptitude equipped. Nowi joins with her new daughter after that chat and manakete trio group up for the next batch of Risen.

So sloooooooooow.

Nah's manakete form is a lot darker than Tiki or Nowi's. Maybe it's a reflection of her being a cocky know-it-all or something.

Gold ones are basically free levels to all but the highest of leveled characters. Nah gains every stat except resistance. Get used to this event.

Tiki blasts a charging Dark Knight, and gains 70 EXP off that kill.

A second Dark Knight just feeds Tiki more EXP for a level.

The team continues to move forward. The middle wall closes up as the left wall falls down. Nothing really happens besides a Mire snipe.

Moving on left.

Owain takes down a Warrior and Dark Knight easily with his Bronze Bow. Otherwise the calm before the storm continues.

Anna catapults Chrom via Rescue to let him reach a small safe area, ready to open the doors for next turn.

Tiki and Morgan get in front to take on the gap of Risen incoming, while Cynthia Rescues Anna and the rest of the team hug the bottom walls so they don't collapse.

The right wall collapses as the left one fixes itself. So annoying. And the enemies don't do anything besides a couple Mire snipes. Be aggressive, come on!

Chrom opens the door to potential doom, then Anna Rescues him from said doom and gains a level.

Hmm, maybe I didn't think this through.

Owain learns how to wield bows better, so going from 3 Mt to Baby Bunny's 11 should be a real treat.

Tiki coutnerkills a Dark Knight for some speed. And magic. She might make a decent tome user, but man that E weapon rank is just so bothersome.

Mother and daughter get their Armorslayer on and dual uppercut the Risen into ash. Cordy, despite the new level, is behind or even with Severa in just about all the stats. Scary.

Not scary.

Another disadvantage of Mire is that the owner is basically a sitting duck at 1-2 range. Of course, Mire enemies are built by the game designers to hide behind walls all day so it's not that much of a flaw.

Nah takes down a General with Nowi's Hammer for help. Aptitude strikes again.

The bottom walls collapse, unleashing the 6 Risen idling around. Aside from a couple counter-chips, the bottom and the middle wall enemies start to surround our team.

My first disappointment with Nah already happens. At least she got some defense.

Severa slaps a General off his feet to gain every stat except defense.

Owain weakens a Dark Knight for Chrom to take over and finish it off.

Well, at least he didn't gain magic...?

Anna rescues Chrom to save him from the huge group of enemies waiting to pounce.

Aside from the machine gun bow, the rest of the enemies just try and kill Owain to no avail.

The team retreats in the small southwestern corner of the map, as Tiki and Nah defend the gap with Rally Spectrum boosting them.

You're going to see a lot of this for this enemy phase.

Tiki gets in on the munching fun.

Nah kills a lot more enemies. She's almost as strong as Tiki at this point.

Anna opens the bottom chest for a Second Seal.

Destruction...from the fuuuuuture.

Hammer's cool and all, but triple dragons sound so much better...

Cordelia transfers to the lead and takes out the last nearby enemy with Tiki's support.

The other southern chest has a Recover Staff.

Nowi flies over and takes out a weakened General a couple turns ago. A few of the Shepherds move north as the middle wall fixes itself and the left collapses in the 2nd section.

Anna uses Physic to heal and grow more. Cynthia Rescues her to get to level 15 and learn Lancefaire (+5 strength while a lance is equipped) and C rank Staves.

Nah opens the door to collapse the 2nd section of walls, but no danger since there's just a Mire Sorcerer.

Cordelia moves ahead on the new turn and takes down the Sorcerer thanks to the ever-active Tiki.

Anna opens the last door, then Cynthia Rescues her from the Risen about to be unleashed.

Cordelia gets in a couple fights, but no victories before the rest of the horde comes in.

Chrom throws a Javelin at a gold Revenant, while Gregor takes his daughter along to slaughter day.

Yeesh, still so many.

Eh, decent. Tiki's at a point where lack of doubling won't factor in for quite a while.

Both father and son crit their way to a win.

It's been a while since her last level, but she made it count.

Lucy takes out the last mook.

The last chest gave more money. A couple heals later, Anna gets to level 15 and learns Acrobat (All traversable terrain costs 1 movement point to cross aka kinda useless, especially compared to Lucky 7).

And a hootie-hah to you, too.

The Risen boss drops a Spirit Dust.

*After the fight*

If you hadn't come, I'd have been an adorable smear on the wall by now...

Can you make it home on your own?

I... I don't have a home. Not anymore.

Then I'll arrange one for you in Ylisse.

No, my place is here with you now. I'm strong enough to fight, you know.

Well, seeing as you're a manakete, I certainly don't doubt that... Look, if you're sure this is what you want, then we'd love to have you.

I'm sure. And thank you. You won't regret it.

*Nah approaches Nowi*

Whoa, you have the same ring as me! What a crazy coincidence!

It's not a coincidence. This is your ring.

It's a memento of my mother. From...the future. It keeps me safe, now that... Now that you're gone.

Nah...

No, I'm serious. It does.

Huh? Oh, hee hee! You did it to yourself that time! But no, I think it's very sweet. And now that you're with me, you don't have to hold back.

I wasn't holding back. I fought as hard as I could...

No, you fought brilliantly, Nah. But that's not what I meant. I was talking about your tears. If you're sad, you can talk to me.

No, I... I have to be strong. Everyone expects me to. I can turn into a dragon, you know? And that's not...normal.

So I have to put on a brave face and protect everyone, just like you do.

Your mother cries all the time, dear. ...Aaaaaall the time.

Trust me on this—holding things back won't make you stronger.

Just be you, Nah. That's enough.

I... This whole time, I...

I know it's been pretty scary, but you made it through!

*Sniff* Mother, I... Oh, it was awful... I thought I was going to DIE... *Sob* Waaaaaah!

*Sniff* It...it's okay, Nah. Mother's here, now.

The Shepherds gain another incredibly strong Manakete, especially one that grows insane stats yet gains EXP like the low-leveled character Nah is. She has strong reclass options and Aptitude lets her succeed at any class she goes into. The most likely to cap her stats given her situation.

Official Bio: Nowi's future daughter. Unlike her mother, she is remarkably grown up and keeps her feelings in check—especially about her weird name. She has a knack for reading people. The one with the nicest teeth.
