Mission #46: Remember the Wulong, Part 1

It's been far too long since we've killed any recurring characters...

Apparently the chain of command in the DHZ goes from sergeant directly to the leader of the entire country.
: What!? They couldn't hold out for the Huangzhou squad? What happened to the enemy?
: We lost them.
: How do you lose track of a battalion!?
This game is essentially a really contest between our party and the villains to see who can be the most incompetent.
: It's an emergency dispatch signal from Wulong!
: Wulong!? Rudolf, where the hell are you!?
: Enemies are landing on Nanjing. We're closing in to attack them.
: !?
: Chairman Jie: What's going on!?
: The enemies in Huangshan were decoys!
: Tell Huangzhou's Changli Army to head for Nanjing! Don't let them get any further!
: Yes, sir!

: I don't see any enemies
: It's all thanks to Emma's efforts.
: Let's go, Kazuki.
: We're falling behind the other units.
: Okay. Let's take Nanjing quickly and get Emma!
: Wait, it's not going to be that easy.
: I knew it: they're after Nanjing. A good plan against the DHZ, but we weren't fooled.
That'd probably be a bit more meaningful if we hadn't already kicked the Wulong's asses something like four times already. In fact, given that, you'd think the Wulong would do whatever they could to get out of our party's killing range.

It looks like Emilio's got his grenade launcher back, which would be scary if he weren't so suicidal with it.
: Don't rush it. You must take caution against them.
: Shut up, I'm tired of hearing you lecture. The point is to kill them. Let's go Greg!
: You're always so hot headed. You won't live long that way.
Hard to argue with that.

Time for battle. It's the back half of the Wulong, with a Whisk, a Vinedrai and a Lanze, supplemented by a few tanks. Those are decent enough units, but not near enough. Kazuki is in the Big Burst, which I like more than I should, Ryogo is in the noblest of experiments, the Time To Fly, which utilizes hover technology to disappoint me in new and exciting ways. Dennis is the Pancake House, which is a rifle wanzer. Marcus is in the No Spikes, which is the best wanzer he's ever had by a large margin. Since the Time To Fly is so fragile, it'll spend the entire mission hunting tanks.

Grenade attack! Emilio manages to screw it up and misses everyone.

I don't intend to give Emilio another chance.

I'm not putting a wanzer with a missile wanzer body and no shield anywhere near the front lines.

Kazuki kills Emilio with a devastating combo.
: There's no way you can be more powerful than me!

Well, Ryogo is half-dead after taking out only two tanks. I do not have high hopes for this wanzer.

Marcus shows off his new wanzer in style by taking off most of Greg's body HP in one hit.

Kazuki kills another member of the Wulong.
: ...It seems my life is over now.
Those may be the most understated dying words in history.

Marcus takes out Greg's legs. Ordinarily, hitting the legs would be relatively useless, but since Greg is in a melee wanzer, he's basically toast.

Kazuki kills yet another member of the Wulong. I can't help but feel that their reputation as the top mercenaries in the world has been a bit exaggerated.
: C'mon! Move! I can still fight!

We are rolling. Kazuki gets MVP.

: How are the other units doing?
: They were hindered by the Wulong.
: Any word from the diversionary force?
: Don't worry. Emma's escaped from Huangshan and is headed this way.
Okay, let's take down Nanjing!

Next Time: Emma's team fights anonymous grunts on an anonymous battlefield.
