Now we can finally leave Nazi Germany and head for the concentration camp.

Blackthorn expresses a sentiment that we will be sharing in exactly 20 seconds.

Blackthorn is my kinda guy.

Pfft. Sacrifice being corrupted? Nonsense. This man is clearly willing to give up his own daughter to keep Blackthorn from getting the lens.

That's right Avatar. Blackthorn clearly hasn't learned from all of those other times we've let him capture us.

: Avatar! I should have known that you would turn up. This doesn't concern you, Avatar.
: Oh, yes it does! Everything about this land concerns me. Like how nobody ever sleeps at night, dragons hang in midair less than 12 feet away from major cities and how I am looking in the wrong direction while I talk to you. Deeply troubling.
: Very well, you [Gypsies] wouldn't help me, but I'll make certain that you won't help [the Avatar] either.
: You gypsies are a superstitious breed, well believe this: I pronounce a curse upon this village.
: Anyone here who helps the Avatar in his quest will be consumed in flames!
: Mal flam lek! Mal flamrand krump! Anid flam!

Super. Let's talk to Captain Douchebag who was going to play out Saw with his daughter.

: And what have you brought for me, huh?
: Who are you?
: Who am I? I am Laszlo, the Rom Baro, the leader of the Gypsies, that is who I am. You think you are the only one with destiny, Avatar?
: My fate was foretold when I was born. Myth and legend, fated to the greater glory! Now, what you bring for me, huh?

...My kingdom for Angelus.

: What is this fate that was foretold?
: It was foretold at my birth by Morganna that I would save my people from disaster. This is my fate and my destiny.
: With all due respect, Rom Baro, I come in search of very important items.
: Ah, so you come to the Rom Baro asking for many things, but you bring him nothing. Why not just spit into my face, you show me such disrespect.
: Tell you what, you tell me what it is you seek and I tell you what you must bring me for these important things.
: Very well. I need the blue codex lens.
: And what else?
: The mantra and Sigil of Sacrifice.
: Hmm, you come here, you show me no respect, and now you ask me for these things.
: I'd settle for a one-way Moongate off of Britannia. Before the hammer drops. You know what I mean.
: No, no, no. This I cannot do. Not unless you give to me something that I need for my people.
: Anything to get out of this fucking trainwreck.
: You see, my people have suffered very bad things because of this column so near to our camp.
: Tell you what, Avatar; you bring to me this thing that I need, then we can talk. What do you think of that, eh?
: What is it that you need?
: What I need is the Blackrock Crystal Ball. This ball predicts the future and is never wrong. You bring me this ball and then we talk.
: Where is this crystal ball?
: Ah, here is the problem: an ancient and powerful lich stole it and holds it in the Blackrock Mines. This will be dangerous, sure, but you are the Avatar, no?
: Very well, I'll bring you the crystal ball.
: Salut! See? We can work an arrangement. You scratch my back and I scratch yours.

: Not since that nice woman who used to live here have I seen a healing potion. No one around here has such potions, that is certain!
: They'll put a curse on you in the blink of an eye, but can they heal? No. Feh!
: What is your name, my lady?
: My name is Alara, you give me a healing potion now, no? I am old and get so sick. You give me a healing potion so I be alright, eh?
: Yes, I can spare a potion for you.
: Hey, you give me another potion now, eh? If I have two, I can sell one! You have pity on old woman and give me another potion, no? I need the money.

: ...Anyway, who was this healing woman?
: Oh, her name was Julia. She was only decent person in town.
: She knew how to take care of old woman, not like these selfish people who live here now.
: Where did you see this healing woman?
: Always by the waterfall.

By jove, a clue!

We unlock the door with the MYSTIC KEY. Erm. Wrong thread.

We read Julia's journal.

Day 1

Today I started my journey into the Covetous Mines, as per Lord British's instructions. I've been trying to talk to folk around here, but they don't seem to want to listen to my advice. However, they are not shy about asking me for money! I'm almost certain this behavior has to do with that awful column, so I am hoping to find more clues in the mines. So far I have not been able to find anything but a large number of undead, who's[sic] numbers have mysteriously risen with the amount of miners missing. [Editor's note: All of them are missing]

Day 2

I spent much of the day talking to the gypsies trying to find out more about the mines. It's hard to talk to people, since everyone seems preoccupied with bickering amongst themselves... especially in Cove! Last night near the lake, I heard sounds of fighting coming from Cove. When I ran over, I noticed a riot between many of the Cove folk. At first I considered getting involved, but then realized it was their problem, not mine. I came home to find my belongings searched, and half of my gold missing!

Day 3

I came back late from the mines again, very frustrated at not having found anything. I am getting tired of these gypsies complaining and demanding things from me. Later, I went to Cove to buy some more supplies (mine were mysteriously missing) and met this little girl Dayla who was whining about her doll. I went to her home to investigate, and I found it under some boards. I decided to keep it for myself, as it's a nice enough doll that I can probably sell for some gold. After all, these people have been taking my things as they please, and I deserve something back. I am going to make a final trip into the mines this evening.

Hmm.

Now that we've finally found a bedroll we can rest until evening! Yay!

We go back to Cove and into the large burnt-out house.

The ghost is poorly-scaled, but it's supposed to be a ghost of a little girl.

: What's your name, little girl?
: I'm Dayla, I'm five years old!
: When was the bad night?
: That was the night that all of the grown-ups got mad and hurt each other. There were people running around and yelling and burning things and... and smashing things.
: I was scared, so I came up stairs and hid under my bed 'cause I was afraid. Nothing happened to my house though. It just got all smoky and then I fell asleep.
: But every since the bad night, I only wake up at night. Why is that?
: I don't know why that is, little girl.
: Well, but you know what?
: No. What?
: Since it's always dark now when I get up, I can't find my dolly! I get lonely without my dolly. The see-through people can't help me find it. Can you help me? Please?
: Guess what, little girl?
: What?
: I think I have your doll right here.

Our next stop in the circus of horrors is the tomb.

Putting the Ghost's jewelry into the open grave gets us an extra point of karma.
