Lufia: The Legend Returns

by Blackbelt Bobman

Part 47

Alright, final Ancient Cave trip report, this time reporting from floors 101-200!

Floors 101-120 are all fairly easy enemies, basically they cram the last 100 floors into 20. That way if you start from floor 100, which I unlocked, you can get your levels up before the rapetrain that is 121-200. There aren't really any new enemies there, except this guy

Who I apparently missed outside of here. You might be wondering whether or not these zombies are named cooper, but I'm going to go ahead and blow your mind by saying they should be called Corpse.

A good shield for women (probably supposed to be Dark Mirror) but as I said before, the only girl without a two-handed weapon is Melphis, and she sucks. She can have it, I guess.

These are always nice if you are into that kind of thing, I guess.

these guys show up around floor 110 or 120. I like to think the D stands for Devil and the person who designed this enemy is a big Shin Megami Tensei fan or something.

More cores that I didn't fight outside.

A wonderful sword for Dei (although Marco, Deckard, and Randolph can equip it) which converts SPD to ATP, hence why it's best for Dei.

If Ron Paul practiced Kabbalah. . . oh wait he hates jews.

Jokes on me, these guys are actually pretty tough.

THESE ENEMIES gave me the MOST TROUBLE of anything down here. Seriously. They show up starting around 120 or 130, and they're fucking jerks. They go twice in one turn, can hit an entire column with hell fire, or use destroy TWICE. Fucking urgk I actually died to them once, fucking douchebag Gay Demons or whatever they are.

A fucking incredible robe for Seena or haha Melphis hahaha which gives Seena godlike DEF and RES.

Cool now both Dei and Deckard have these. Marco still has Gades Bracelet, like he has since the beginning of the game.

These guys show up on B140 and are disappointingly easy to kill. They have low HP and DEF and are slow and I usually kill them before they act.

B150 should have been a rest point like 50 and 100, with a heal pad. Hey a guy can dream, alright

These guys are assholes, like the Great Demons, they cast Destroy/Perish a lot and like to kill people. Luckily they're weak to holy.

The final treasure mimic, and they are very abundant near the bottom. Not hugely powerful compared to any of the others, actually the difficulty curve for these guys is pretty nice.

Don't need this

Like the fireball ring, raises MAP by 30, but this teaches Bolt instead.

No cores are hard to kill and man LP is nice.

Ah, they're back, the scourge of the AC in Lufia 2. They're not as tough this time, although they still have Gold Dragon breath, which does a ton of damage to everyone. I usually kill them before they can attack, though.

anyway

okay don't need this either

Ah, here they are, the king of all super enemies in the Ancient Cave. They are tough, have high HP and DEF, and can do tons of attacks that do a couple hundred to a row/column. I had to use a lot of IP skills to take care of them, mostly ones that hit all enemies. They're jerks but totally worth it for the EXP and stuff.

You know, I got an Old Helm and was like OH MAN THIS IS AWESOME and then I defrosted my save state later and it took me back before I got the old helm, and I ended up getting this instead which wasn't as good

One of the skeleton enemies from WAAAAAY early in the game, I think in Fugo's Basement, drops these really rarely, and if they do well it's better than Gades Blade so fuck man you're lucky. However, now that I have all the best weapons etc. it isn't as good.

yawn

AND AT LAST WE REACH BASEMENT 200 AND WAITING FOR US IS. . .

Who's that?

Iris? Isn't she Erim or something? I am so confused by this. Well anyway.

I recognize you all as the bravest of the brave. It would be rude if I didn't fight with my full power! En Garde! Here I come!

Pfft bitch I took down the Egg Dragon without batting an eye, what can you do? Some crusty old wench? You couldn't be too tough, right? Right?

Well, in one of these videos I die horribly, and in the other, I emerge triumphant. Choose at your own risk:

Iris fight 1
Iris fight B

(with special guest Vallhallan!)

and that pretty much does it for Lufia: The Legend Returns! Thank you all so much for watching, I'll announce the winner of the fan art contest tomorrow, so get in any last minute entries by. . . uh. . . tomorrow (tuesday) at noon or whatever. I guess I'll be home from work around 10 pm EST so before then.

Watch out for Let's Play Metroid Prime, coming soon!
