Lufia: The Legend Returns

by Blackbelt Bobman

Part 8

Today we will infiltrate Fugo's basement. First of all, I forgot to show my favorite part of Albano:

MEGA CHURCH!

Put in that secret basement.

Do you know how to get into the basement?

I don't know. . . but he told me to stay out of the room with lots of books. . . maybe. . .

Alright well let's start searching around the house and

Was that there before?

Anyway, I already found all the items inside the house, and there is a library with an open book that suspiciously lists a bunch of Ancient Texts. (if I didn't mention this before, in shops you can find lists of the ancient texts that can be found in nearby caves/dungeons/etc.)

Ah, see, it was too easy.

Alright, secret room!

The chest is a Bug Crush, which is the same as the insect crush from Lufia 2. It's better than what I have, which is cool. Also, inside the left statue was a MIRACLE OH LAWD

Dungeon time!

This is a. . . well, I can't really describe it. It looks like a prison, really. I dunno. This is Fugo's basement!

You can find more copies of dash attack here, but they gave you one I guess just so Dei will definitely learn it. It's probably his best attack, it deals damage based on speed. And since he's insanely fast. . .

This is a really awesome IP. It lowers the target's Speed and Def by 25%. Wonderful for bosses.

This is an interesting skill. Seena can learn it, and it lists the items that can be stolen from an enemy.

More ghosts here! Did I mention that while the spell light was completely worthless in Lufia 2, it's actually a cheap spell that deals pretty decent damage to undead enemies in this game? It isn't super powerful or game breaking, but it's pretty fucking awesome. Also ghosts live in Fugo's basement. The ghosts of dead mexican immigrant children.

Beetles. . . attack beetles live in Fugo's basement.

We're already moving up in the world of palette swaps!

This trap causes every one of your steps to count as two, meaning the enemies can catch up to you pretty easily.

This trap is really annoying. When you step on it, you start moving in random directions. The worst part is, you often end up stepping back into the fucking thing, making it take forever to actually leave. If you get into battle while moving around randomly, your whole party is confused! Yeah, that would suck horribly. Also note that it's colored red here, because the floor is blue, but in other dungeons it's blue.

This one puts you to sleep and takes like five or ten or so steps to wake up, so the enemies move around while you sleep. If they engage you in battle, you guessed it, your whole party is asleep!

Finally, after about 8 floors, we reach the basement! There's a healing panel and a save point and also

This seems like a weird place to find this, but hey, it's actually a lot better than what Dei has, so I'm kind of excited to give it to him when I get him back. Say, we should find him.

Boy, it sure loves eating gold.

Look Seena, the monster is eating the gold!

Hey you, do you know how much work it would take to earn that? Such meals should kill you.

Seena is pretty fucking badass.

This guy is pretty simple, he only used an attack called Golden Lance which did pitiful damage.

Again, lots of gold from these guys, which is nice.

There was also a hi magic next to this, that chest had an X-potion, if you check the other pile of gold, you get a Trick Ring, which raises your attack and allows the casting of the spell trick. There was another chest, but, ah, I forgot what was in it. . . couldn't have been that important!

Oh hey, he was in a cell guarded by that. . . thing. Say, how does Fugo get down here anyway? Does he have like a hidden elevator?

What? You followed me all the way here?!

No, that's not it. We came to help.

Help? A thief like me?

We were asked by Kobin.

Even if we weren't asked, I would have come to beat that silly monster anyway.

Really. Kobin was worried about me. . .

We should get out of here. There are still monsters.

The chest had a life seed in it. Finally Dei is a permanent party member! However, we still have to escape, and we might run into. . . trouble when we leave, so I'm going to collect a few hi bombs just in case, you know?

Just for fun, guess how many hi bombs I'll need. . . you know, just in case something happens.
