MS Saga: A New Dawn

by Tobias Grant

Part 5

Katz gives Casval a quick summery on his quest for revenge.

Casval then tells us to go fight pirates.

Thanks to all the upgrades and new shoulder parts, Katz here can easily one-shot most of the enemies we can encounter at this point.

The group testing out their new weapons.

Port Marley isn't that far from Eisengrad.

CHAAARRRRGE!

Aw, man.

Port Marley is a pretty cool place. First things first, though.

Loot List:
Ecap (S)
General Purpose Med
2 Hacking Tools
200 Credits

This place has a rather nice weapon shop.

Purchased:
3 medium shields
3 Beam Spray guns
2 Guncannons (They're shoulder mounted cannons, not the mech.)

I would have bought a Tomahawk, but they're incredibly large, and require 2 EN to use. It's best to just stick with the Beam Pick for now.

Blast!

The item shop has nothing that we need.

You can talk to Aeon here for a cutscene.

One of the hacking tools is hidden up here.

These guys have some good stuff, but they won't get any stock until we take care of the pirates.

Anyway, we need to talk to this guy, who's in the Unicorn building.

Off we go, but first.

Our current load-out. I probably should have swapped Fritz's Arm machine Gun for a Beam Spray, but I love the Arm machine guns too much.

Unfortunately, we can't interact with this burned down building. It's just a landmark to help you reach the Military base.

The base is exactly East from the ruins.

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head~

Acid GM's are just annoying. Acguys are just adorable

Also, a quick correction on my part. the Gelgoog was not the first Zeon suit to use beams. They were the first to use beam rifles, but Zeon Amphibious suits like the Acguy have been using beams way before the Gelgoogs came around.

The Acguys can buff their allies' speed. The Acid GM's just have weapons that can inflict Acid.

A fork in the road. We want to go up the left path, since it leads to treasure.

As well as a yellow encounter.

Goggs are pretty tough, they can do a decent amount of damage, and have quite a bit of HP.

Two turns of concentrated attacks is usually enough to bring them down.

Oh... oh yes. These are totally worth coming here for.

The locked chest held an Acid barrier, which is an optional part that renders the MS completely immune to Acid.

Katz eventually learns a new Boost. it's a stronger version of Boost Attack.

Oh joy, looks like Katz got himself Hurt!

This will not stand!

After the battle, Aeon learns a new Boost for herself, Arm snipe is a Boost that will lower the enemies attack.

So Hurt. Hurt completely sucks. what Hurt does is lower a pilot's stats by 30%, and it's possible to get Hurt +, which will cut your stats by 50%

Hurt is usually caused by critical hits. Get rid of it as soon as possible.

Katz' stats after Hurt has been cured, for reference.

A handy little save point a bit further into the dungeon.

Another yellow encounter. another Gogg, this time with friends.

This goes right to Katz. Fritz get his old Metal Guard.

Further down the path is another split. This time we need to follow the coast for treasure.

It's not really much, though. Just a small cannon and an SOS flare.

Time for a mini-boss!

This time, we're fighting a Z'gok!

The Z'gok can be pretty brutal. It's melee attacks can really sting, and it can take a beating.

It's boost attacks are dangerous, as well. This attack did 42 damage to Katz while he was defending.

We need to do something about his attack power, so let's snipe him.

With a Bazooka.

And now his attacks aren't quite as threatening.

A little more, and he's down for the count!

We manage to loot an arm part off of him, and Katz learns one of his more useful techniques. Auto-drive will teleport us to any previously visited town.

Fritz also learned a new Boost called Double Attack, where he attacks with his melee weapon, and left fist. Not quite as useful, since he's more of a ranged fighter.

A little further in, and we reach the docks.

It's around here that Aeon will tell us that she can hear voices in her head. Fantastic.

There's some treasure around here that we can loot before the boss as long as we stick to the walls. Over here was a Regeneration kit and Bazooka.

No luck getting this stuff, though

OH JESUS!

I like this guy, mostly because he reminds me of Big Boss. Must be because of the eye-patch

Cool.

It's time for our first fight with a Mobile Armor! Mobile armors are incredibly powerful, but they all share one weakness, they can't counter against your melee attacks.

Fritz gets to buffing our armor, and Aeon debuffs its defense.

...or rather, she would if she didn't miss the first time!

photon maser cannon

I wasn't joking about the incredible firepower, these guys can hurt.

This guy can also debuff your armor, so watch out for that

When you see that he's about to use a Boost attack, Defend!

His boosts can hit your entire party, and they are very painful.

Take it slow, and eventually you'll wear him down.

His second Boost attack can be nasty.

Fritz here gets the kill!

Bye, Weaver, you were kinda cool.

Whatever you say, Katz.

Robot Roll Call

MSM-03 Gogg

First Appearance: Mobile Suit Gundam (0079)

The first truly amphibious mobile suit that wasn't a re-purposed Zaku. Thanks to it's large reactor, it could house two built in Mega Particle Guns, although it was completely reliant on water in order to cool them down after every shot.

MSM-04 Acguy

First Appearance: Mobile Suit Gundam (0079)

The Acguy is just the most adorable thing ever , but other than that it's like an amphibious Zaku-II with built-in beam weaponry.

MSM-07 Z'Gok

First Appearance: Mobile Suit Gundam (0079)

The Z'gok is a mobile suit that is just as deadly on land as it is in the sea, thanks to it's multitude of built in weapons, and claws that could rip MS armor to shreds.

MSM-10 Zock

First Appearance: Mobile Suit Gundam (0079)

The Zock is basically a mobile gun emplacement. it's multitude of mega Particle guns built into it's torso, and photon maser gun built onto the top of it's head, meant that it could attack from virtually any direction.
