MS Saga: A New Dawn

by Tobias Grant

Part 21

That's bad.

That's good.

That's VERY good!

Fuck yeah!

Aeon gets the Hyaku Shiki, and Vargas switches to her old Nemo. The Marasai becomes spare parts.

The Hyaku Shiki has an absolutely insane speed stat, and it's range stat is nothing to sneeze at either.

Gave it some new shoulders and some enhanced propellent.

And then upgraded it.

Guns make everything better.

Aw yeah.

IT'S GO TIME!

or not.

And so we go see Marie.

Excellent! Now we just have to take out the Forts one by one!

Oh yeah, and we have to fight our old allies, but meh.

After all of that, we now finally have control of our very own airship!

And you know what that means. Time to explore!

Our first stop is the Moon Ark. now that we have a level three cardkey, we can open up another door.

Aha! Our very own Wing suit! the other chest contained a ECAP (L)

It's gonna be a while before we can open up another door.

Glorious. Katz takes control of the Sandrock, and Tremmie gets the Gundam MK.II.

The Sandrock gets the usual treatment.

The Gundam Mk.II gets some cool new shoulders and legs.

After a quick stop to Diggins Rock for upgrades, it's off to our next destination: Falldust.

The guard isn't here to stop me this time!

Bwahahaha!

Now that we're done with that, time to do some optional fights!

Our first stop is on Madagascar.

Meet the Drill Lancers. These guys can be dangerous.

Their Drill Lances have a chance of debuffing your armor whenever they hit.

They also have a ton of HP.

And I mean a ton.

Bazuli got unlucky and was shot down. However, this is a good thing because now I can show off just how useful Vargas is against Melee foes.

Just set up Counter Snipe, and...

Eat it!

it was at this point that I had set up a nice pattern for defeating these guys.

If they attempt a range attack, I just throw up a Chaff Field.

If they attempt a Boost Attack, I just use Counter Snipe. if I don't have enough EN for a Counter Snipe, I just defend or have Katz use Counter Zone.

Also, I forgot to equip Tremmie with some weapons before I got into this fight and was forced to use her Vulcan Pods. Whoops!

Eventually one of them dies, and this fight is as good as won.

Our reward for beating them?

Why it's our very own Drill Lance!

After I make sure to equip Tremmie before heading off to the next battle, I take a look at the Drill Lance.

The Drill Lance is incredibly strong, and can debuff enemy armor. However, it require three EN to use, and is rather large so it's kinda useless to Katz, whose better off with the Heat Shotel for now.

I still use it for the next few battles, because goddamn just look at this thing!

My next stop is an island to the north of Vargas's sky pirate base.

Where we fight the Perfect Zeong!

All of the Zeong's attacks are beams, so Beam Field is useful. However, don't rely on it!

Most of the Zeong's boost attacks will fire go off before you can get a Beam Field set up, so more often than not you'll just be wasting EN using it. Besides, as threatening as it may look, it's attacks are actually pretty weak.

Instead, focus on offense, and he'll go down rather quickly.

Our reward is a Charge Plus, which increases how much EN we gain from Charging during battle.

Our next stop is Australia.

Because that's where the Mobile Coliseum is.

God I love these statues.

This guy here sells some nice stuff

purchased:
1 Battle Shield Kai (25 MEL, 25 AMR, -8 SPD)
1 Knuckle Guard Kai (15 MEL, 12 AMR, -7 SPD)
2 Hyaku Shiki Beam Rifles (172 ATK, 2EN)
2 Long Beam Rifle (215 ATK, 3 EN)

Power overwhelming!

There's a hidden room in the back of the Coliseum that you to make sure you visit.

Inside contains:
2 Hacking Tools
10 Bawoo Data (bringing us up to 40! only need ten more!)
3 Ecap (S)
10,000 credits
1 En Charger (all units in the frontline gain max EN)
1 Ecap (L)

not a bad haul.

Anyway, since we're already here, let's try out the Coliseum.

There are three different leagues in the Coliseum. The Rookie, Master, and Champion leagues. Beating each league will allow us to advance up the rankings, and gain a fantastic part or weapon.

Beating the Rookie League, for example, will give us the Front Charge optional part, which will increase the amount of EN you gain while on the frontline. very handy, but not really important. the real prizes are in the Master and Champion leagues, but I'll get to them later once I'm ready to take them on.

Anyway, enough talking. Let's fight!

Our first fight is against a Gouf and two Zaku II's!

Now, I know what you're thinking, but don't let these guys fool you.

All of the enemies in the Coliseum are head and shoulders above the usual enemies we face, and they WILL destroy you if you are not careful.

Anyway, I make it through the first fight without any major problems.

The next fight is against three Doms, or as I like to call them, the Black Tri-Stars.

Fortunately, we don't have to worry about any Jet Stream Attacks, so they go down rather easily.

The third fight is where things get tricky.

The Gyan will only use Giga-Bomber every turn, which is bad because it hurts.

The Doms will attempt to kill off the units weakened by Giga-Bomber.

Things got rather hairy at times.

Once you kill the Gyan, the fight becomes much less of a pain.

I left one of the Doms alive so I could heal up for the next round. I'm going to need it.

Let's do this thing!

Our final opponent in the Rookie League is a Gelgoog Special, and damn does it feel like your fighting the Red Comet himself.

The Gelgoog loves to use boost attacks that will allow it to attack first, so keep your HP up at all times to avoid getting slaughtered like Aeon here.

He's got a ton of health and armor as well, so expect this fight to last a while.

Eventually, a Power Charge from Katz takes him down.

Damn right I am!

Let's do this! Can't be that much harder than the Rookie league, right?

...oh.
