MS Saga: A New Dawn

Part 39

So now we have our own spaceship, and since there is nothing left for us to do on the Earth right now, there's only one thing left to do.

To the moon!

We sure did.

Well shit.

And now we have a destination.

Let me tell you something about the Moon.

It sucks.

First off, there is no map for the Moon, so about the only thing you can do is wander around blindly until you find something.

However, while you can't land anywhere that isn't a spaceport, you can still fly around in order to get your bearings, so it's not completely terrible.

Anyway, this is the only path that goes anywhere. The other two just lead to dead-ends.

Eventually you'll reach this crossroads. This rightmost path leads to a deadend, the one straight ahead leads to an optional Moon Base. I'm heading for the Moon Base first since it has a few goodies to grab.

Let's talk enemies. The Speed Lancers have insane speed so they will often act first, and their melee weapon can stun. The Space Leos didn't really do much, since they almost always died before they could act.

Shot Killers are still the bane of my existence. The Red Dreissen didn't fare much better than the Leos did.

Occasionally you can run into a Zeong or, even more rarely, a Psyco Gundam.

I never did run into a Psyco Gundam while I was running around on the surface of the moon, but I don't think they would do much better than the Zeong did here.

Finally, I reach my destination.

Welcome to Moon Base Beta.

There are 7 doors in the circular room, not counting the one I just came in from. One of them is locked, and you need to turn on two switches in order to unlock it.

Entering a room will often lock the door behind you, forcing you to destroy all enemies in the room in order to unlock it.

The only enemies in the entire place are Dark Serpents and Dark Leos. These guys actually have quite a bit of HP, and their attacks can deal quite a bit of damage.

These guys also give a shitton of EXP. It's not a bad idea to hang around the save point and grind a few levels.

That's one switch down!

Some of the rooms are just filled with enemies. Not that that's a bad thing.

Sometimes they're filled with items!

These contained a Restorative Drink SP, a Repair Unit SP, and a Regeneration Kit SP.

The aforementioned locked door.

Just so you know, both switches are located in the rooms right next to the entrance.

Oh boy, who am I gonna fight next?

Another Tallgeese! Only this one is painted black.

However, while the Tallgeese we meet on earth was a real bastard of a fight, this one is less so, mostly because this guy only has two serpents supporting him instead of 4 Leos. Still not a good idea to underestimate him, since his Boosts are rather powerful.

Vargas is great for interrupting the Tallgeese's attacks.

Much like his brother on the Earth, this one soon falls.

Our reward is a room filled with treasure!

Inside was an Armor Upgrade Kit, two High Armor Kits, a Regeneration Kit SP, a Zaku III Shield for the left shoulder, and EN Charger, and...

A kickass Beam Trident!

Unfortunately, Katz can't really make effective use of it, since he'd have to unequip quite a few things to fit it in, plus you can't use Giga Crush with spear weapons. It will make a nice present for Rezner, though.

Fun fact, you can Auto Drive back to Earth if you feel like restocking on items, or spending a night at an Inn.

After a quick break, it's back to the Moon. Time to loot another optional Moon Base! This one is actually a lot closer to the landing spot, so you can do this one before MB Beta.

The layout of the base is the same as Beta.

The enemies, however, are all extremely weak compared to the Dark Leos and Serpents.

The only fights that managed to go past the first turn are ones where Shot Killers were involved, since I can't just obliterate them with Shot Burst.

Anyway, same deal as before, have to unlock two switches before I can enter the treasure room.

Li Fang managed to learn a new boost!

It's pretty cool.

Anyway, let's just skip to the end of this base, since there's really not much here that is interesting.

Red Qubeley and two Red Dreissens.

He literally only attacked me once. the rest of the time he just defended.

Next.

The Funnel Container here gives a 50% increase to Funnel power.

Inside this treasure room are two ECAP (S), a Restorative Drink SP, an Armor Upgrade Kit, a High Power Kit, two Attack Upgrade Kits...

And a pretty kickass gun!

It has a pretty high attack rating, and if I didn't have the Dobergun, I would have given it to Bazuli. Instead, I give it to Vargas so he can Snipe with it.

Unfortunately, this means that his days as the God of Death are at an end

With those two areas out of the way, now we can go the the place we were supposed to go to.

Spooky.

Yep, this is definitely the place.
