MS Saga: A New Dawn

by Tobias Grant

Part 48

Off to the next floor!

Unfortunately, the only unlocked door is this one, and all it leads to is 5 more bits of Master Gundam data.

Floor B997 is locked off.

Floor B998 isn't.

Two hacking tools and an ECAP (S).

Music

The Hell Zeta is still the speedy little bastard he was before.

The Hell Double Zeta will bombard you with it's High Mega Cannon. Beam Field is your best friend here.

He'll also use Giga Crush, so be careful of that.

Take out the Hell Zeta first, since you can't block his Lancer boosts. after he's dealt with, the Double Zeta will go down easily.

Make sure you flip this switch before you continue onwards.

Music

This fight can be a bit difficult if you don't know what to expect...

...As I had to learn the hard way.

The first thing you should do is take down the Sandrock, since he can do massive damage to your entire party with his Sonic Boosts. The only way to counter his Sonic Blaster is with Aeon's Barrier Field, so try to keep her EN up.

The Heavyarms isn't much of a threat. He CAN one-shot your dudes, but I still think the Sandrock is the bigger threat of the two. Plus Vargas can shut him down with a Intercept Snipe when he's about to use his Gatling or Explosion Boosts.

When I fought these guys I took down the Heavyarms first, but when you actually play, it's best to focus on the Sandrock first.

Fuck you.

These two actually give some nice treasure. The Large Heat Shotel would have been nice if we had gotten it before we got our hands on the Hyper Beam Saber, but as it stands it's mediocre compared to our gear now.

I can always use another Double Gatling Gun though.

Music

I expected these guys to fight like they're Mt. Trial counterparts, and it turns out I was half right.

While the Altron is still the speedy lancer bastard he was in Mt. Trial, the worst thing the Deathscythe did all battle was use System Crack.

In fact, the only offensive boost I've seen him use is Sonic Boom. for most of the battle he was content to just throw up various Fields or throw down the odd System Crack.

Meanwhile his buddy is busy one-shotting my dudes like there's no tomorrow. Which ever dude you decide to take down is really up to you. The Altron is clearly the bigger threat, but the Deathscythe's Field usage may be a major annoyance.

I went with the Deathscythe, mainly because I kept expecting him to use a Sonic Blaster or something and completely destroy my party, but he never did and went down rather easily.

Off to the next fight!

Music

Now THIS was an excellent fight!

This was a fun fight because the Tallgeese and Wing Gundam would act like an actual team. For example, one would use Snipe Assist...

...While the other would hit you with Giga Crush.

And when one of them would use Explosion...

...The other would use it the next turn.

Goddamn.

The best thing you can do is hit both of them with a System Crack as soon as you can, and then focus on one of the two enemy mechs.

It's probably best to take down Wing Gundam first, if only just because Beam Field is more expensive than Chaff Field.

Congratulations, Hell Wing and Hell Tallgeese, Fighting you was the most fun I had playing this game in a long time.

Another elevator. Going up to floor B996 will let you unlock a shortcut to the last elevator.

Which I use to go here.

Treasure! Inside contained an ECAP (L), 5 more bits of Master Gundam data, and...

Nice.

At this point I use one of the Flares to leave so that I can make the Double Zeta and also to restock on my supply of Restoration Drinks and other various items.

Excellent, my original plan was to put Fritz into this since it has more HP, but the massive hit to the Ranged stat kind of put me off of that.

So instead I just throw the Double Zeta's legs on the Heavyarms so that it can get a rather nice speed boost, as well as some more EN.

Next update, I finally finish this blasted dungeon.
