Part 65: Victoria: Chapter 4b - The Stuttgart Congress - Part 2

The Stuttgart Congress - Part 2

Mathias holds a lengthy speech about the virtues of Monarchy and the importance of returning the Bourbon and Tahirid dynasties to their rightful thrones. He also casts Swabia's vote in favor of the Dutch claim to Flanders.

The other voting countries also cast their voices overwhelmingly in favor of the Dutch, with Lithuania as the sole dissenting voice. Much to the chagrin of the French and Flemish both, Flanders is ruled to be a Dutch territory.

As the matter of Flanders is settled, the next topic that comes up is Aquitaine: Its old monarchial dynasty has died out, and the independent Aquitaine of two decades ago was a liberal Mazulan-style republic, making the idea of restoring its independence unpopular among several of the great powers. The idea of allowing Dauphine and Aquitaine to form an Occitain union to create a powerful buffer between France and Iberia may be a more attractive option, though the status quo of allowing it to remain Iberian would do much to befriend the Tahirids once they are restored to power.

Vote 3: Aquitaine
Option A: Iberian Aquitaine
Option B: Independent Aquitaine
Option C: Dauphine-Aquitaine Union
