Shadowgate

Part 9

Last Chapter

Now with Guest Grims to change it up a little.

So we have the talisman now and we're headed back to the room with the stone gargoyles.

This time we're ready for them.

So we can walk right by them now. If we leave they'll be better again but we shouldn't need to.

That door on the left? Purely decorative.

Looking at the well.

And the door.

And the handle.

Let's pull on the handle, surely nothing terrible and dreadful will happen. Surely.

See? So what's down there?

Oops.

Yeah, well, I'm not DEAD yet.

Though I guess it's only a matter of time, yeah.

Ok, so let's throw in that big coin with the picture of a well on it.

We have those in Georgia, only they're made out of pollen...

Awww, idyllic.

Or not.

Yes, it's a very nice gong. No arguments here.

Not sure who my character is supposed to be but it's a little unsettling that he can tell, on sight, centaur hide.

GONG!

Hey, Charon. How's life treating you?

Pretty sure Chris de Burgh warned me about this kind of thing. But he was wrong about that woman in red, so what the hell.

I think we're used to seeing a skeleton in rags by now.

Let's try a copper coin. He doesn't have any eyes - he won't know the difference.

No good. Charon always wanted a silver coin, but we don't have one of those. So I guess we have to try one of the gold coins.

Of course Charon also took people across the Acheron, not the Styx, but what can you do?

Yeah, yeah, I'm coming.

Charming.

Not exactly what I'm looking for in a church, personally.

The left hole is a sword.

The middle a crown.

And the right one is a jewel.

There were "five to find", and we used three to make the staff. That leaves the talisman and the horn. The talisman looks about the right shape for one of these holes. Plus the exposition scroll said "One gives access, the Bladed Sun." But which hole?

Let's just try the middle one.

Man, if I had a nickel...

Alrighty, not that one.

I said Plum!

Ok, if you'll remember back, the Motari spell said "where the sword is hung, he must place the key".

Well, we didn't die. The last part of that scroll said "The last to invoke, the Platinum Horn."

Here we go...

That's a big cavern.

No, it doesn't let me hit either one.

Well, seems easy enough, let's zap the Warlock Lord with the staff.

Get ready to FEEL THE PAIN!

I am the seed? What?

I'm on fire again.

Ok, let's try it on the behemoth then instead.

"Oh dear holy and sacred Ben Stiller..."

And that's the end of it! There's a video link below if you want to watch the ending. Thanks for staying with me through my first LP and for the encouraging comments. Trying to decide now between Transylvania (Apple II+), Shivers (PC), and Castle of Dr. Brain (PC) if anyone has any requests.

Also, I owe an apology to Psychodude. While I searched to see if anyone had done this yet I didn't see his post in the Sandcastle thread or on the reservation site. I just saw at the end of Uninvited that he had planned to do Shadowgate but it'd been a month so I assumed he'd decided not to. Sorry, Psychodude.
