Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga

Part 10: The Citadel.

Update 10

The Maribel are doing a fine job in the front, then, because this is unmanned and USELESS.

"They can't surround us, or attack us from behing. Defend the main gate."

The same could be said about these two. Dumbasses. Sure you can eb attacked from behind.
By 3 very hungry and very skilled Asuras.

The Citadel. Mostly empty.

"The room is empty. All the soldiers have left."

Free Mamudo!

I believe this is a fire item.

This is probably an electric attack item. Nice.

"The lingering remains of someone's presence can be felt."

If the previous room was offensive items, these are shields. This nulls electric attacks. Useful if you run into a nasty electric user and don't have void/repel/drain electricity. And are using Gale.
Repel * is mostly useless, since the caster is most likely shielded against that element innately.

Same deal, but for Zan skills.
I don't get why in Persona they are called Garu skills. That just makes things more confusing, damnit!

Like the Muscle Drink and the Rancid Gravy, these heal and cause an ailment. Useful only in case you don't have something better.

No explanation needed, I hope.
Mute is a very annoying status.

Chakra drops would be very useful, if I did not have the party members equipped with Mana or Chakra Walk.
Still, very useful for long fights.

Ugh, Stun. That is another status ailment that remains after the battle is over.
Sure, it gets healed in Min Solar Noise, but it is still very annoying.

Oh no! The base is not empty!

Hahahahahaahahahaah.

Oh no! It is a mystery enemy!
The Archangels love to use Hama (useless) and are weak against Mudo (not so useless).

Wikilink.

And then, in another random encounter, this beast was found.

Demonic Compendium Wikilink

They are kind of annoying. But a Ragnarok sorts them out.
That, or eating. Yum.

Hooray more Mantra money. Mantras get expensive, you know.

Wikilink
They are considerably less annoying than in Nocturne.

Still focusing on Luck. Will start developing something else soon, maybe. Or maybe not.
But Luck is good.

VERY useful, until you get the Revival Orb. Then they are useless.

Damn wall. Let Serph Pass! It is of utmost importance!

Correct profile of the Archangel. Not like it matters. Once again, Ragnarok.

Ah, a Blue Wall. It is time for a little derail.

But not before Argilla increases her stats.

There is something to be gained in this place.

"He left something important in his room before he fell."

"Perhaps the light affected your memory more seriously than you first thought, sir.
Rookies are newcomers. We were once rookies, as well.
Rookies form into groups and become a Tribe. They then are bound to the law, and Nirvana."
This is to explain the constant battles inside parts one has already cleared. Goddamn rookies.

Damn rookies!

"The new leader inherits the possessions of the old..."

Now no damn Blue Wall shall stand in Serph's way.

Heat levelled up.

It does so. In a neat hex pattern.

Noises are like Incenses in other Megaten games. They increase the stats. But not by 1. By two.

Heat, while not the most magically apt out there, learns fast.
That's what happens when you eat your food and don't complain.
Oh Iron Stomach, how much simpler the things are when you are equipped (and it is hell to get it in the first playthrough, since the Mantra is quite expensive.)

"Heat learned Frost Breath!
Heat learned Ice Repel!"

Moooo Apis.

Heat needs to learn more.

It's cheap. That's why.

That is ominous. But hey, it's just a statue, right?

... Oh.

Damn you, Turdak!

A hexagonal place. I don't like it.

And filled with these guys.

They are creepy.

And these ones.
Kitties with two tails!

This kind of Megaten furry has changed quite a bit over the different games.
I prefer the Nocturne/DDS kind.

What's the common denominator?
None of them has pants.

Color scheme changed once more. Realized that the screenshots did not look like what I had on the screen, because of the Overlay filtering or somesuch.
Hopefully, it will be better form now on.

See the mist?
It is supposed to be poisonous. It isn't.
All it does is that whenever there is a mirror image passage, it'll reverse your direction. Annoying, but useless, since there is a map.
If this was a first person dungeon with no automap it would make this place HORRIBLE. But since it isn't, it is useless.

"Argilla learned Agilao!
Argilla learned Flame Breath!
Argilla learned Fire Repel!"

Behind some doors there are enemies.

These enemies.
They are weak against Earth.
And Ragnaroks.

They go down with ease after tera, terazi or Ragnarok.

And they are always protecting items. Some of value. Some without any value.

"Worn-out words can be seen at the corpse's fingertip.

Don't stand in front of the red-eyed statues..."

"Worn-out words can be seen at the corpse's fingertip.

Left is right, but right is left."
That is not a tip for the dungeon.

See her magic stat?
Yes.

Sometimes Power flows freely through the body of a party member.
That can heal. Or that can increase a random stat.
That is good.

OH NO! The dreaded effect of the POISON MIST!

"Heat learned Foul Breath!
Heat learned Void Charm!
Heat learned Void Panic!"

"Worn-out words can be seen at the corpse's fingertip.

Approach the yellow-eyed ones with caution..."
He refers to yellow eyed statues. They are annoying. You have to get close to see if they are Red or not.

Hooray.

Less hooray, but still damn good.

Eh, this one could be worse.

Oh Heat you and your levelling up.

That was unexpected.

Left is Right, but Right is Left.
It refers to this. Not relevant at the moment, though.

But it will be soon.

Paid for this one on the previous playthrough. Did not master it.
It's time to rectify that error.

Argilla gets to learn this, though.

What is behind here?

Why, it is nothing less than a Field Hunt!

The Citadel's Field Hunt. (Viddler)
Om nom nom Mitama (youtube)

Useful skills for this one.

And MASTERY.

"Executioner!
Demon Rage!
Revelation!"

"Marin Karin!
Rakukaja!
Sukukaja!"

"Bufu!
Void Ice!"

Hooray for Mitama.

War God is kind of expensive for the moment, don't you think?

Bolt Lord is more adequate to the current finances.

Same for this one.

Argilla also gets a cheap one.

What? Got to save for the expensive ones!

Next: MORE STATUES. OH BOY.
