War in the East

by Grey Hunter

Part 28

Merry Christmas!

You know the drill, there are few threats up here, but we continue to reorganize and sanity check our deployments.

Around Kalinin I am forced to fall back and pull my panzers back some more. I need to keep those guys off the line to keep their strength up before the new year.

Here is my largest worry, the tip of the Soviet spear near Moscow.

Here I am forced to commit my Motorized Divisions, with a Panzer division in reserve.

4th Army are also forced to give up ground.

We force a Russian tank brigade over the river with a attack of three Divisions.

While the 1st Mountain division smashes a hole in the Russian line – and I mean smashes!

This is the best I can make of the Rostov situation.

The Voronezh assault continues, but seems to be petering out a bit.

The Romanians just want to go home.

The tempo of the Russian assault is increasing, with 68 attacks this week.

The North is holding well enough.

The centre is being hammered.

While in the south we are retreating slowly.

116,000 casualties, this seems to be the standard now – at least we have taken the Russians over four million losses now.

The Russians creep ever onwards towards five million men.

The replacements begin to look more healthy. And no Generals have been sacked,

The Fuel pool is looking better and better all the time.

So next week, we get the comparison of the Russian production to history and I'll set out the plans for the offensives in the new year.
