War in the East

by Grey Hunter

Part 52

The Russians are dug in deep here, so there is only a little movement against a few weaker points on the line.

9th Army finally gets on the move, and advances a good hex alone most of the line.

On the 4th Army front, I am a little worried to see Infantry Corps are now appearing, these will soon become a thorn in my side, I'm sure.

I do wipe out one of the trapped units, and twelve thousand men are dealt with.

6th Army does its work, pushing back the Russians before them.

17th Army eliminates the large pocket, and the two tank Corps and the Cavalry Corps are removed, for a paltry 59 tanks.

The Reds are well dug in, so I am only able to open a small hole in their line. This is because my infantry are to far back, having had to deal with those trapped units for so long.

This is still a nice breakthrough here, but I cannot encircle, so expect the Russians to retreat.
I then make another short encirclement move, after sending a large number of Russians running to the rear.

That's a whole load of tank units. I then make a mistake around Rostov, allowing Russians to move back into the fortified city.

I then get a little angry at this mistake.

Take that Ruskis.

Yeah, where's your front line now? That's 32 trapped units now.

There's even movement near Sevastopol.

In the south, a Russian attack sends some Romanians fleeing, and opens up one of my pockets.

Further north, they hit me with three Tank Corps, and my men are forced to retreat.

The mud returns, making a few problems with my far reaching tanks, but most of my other pockets hold.

This is not a good time to be a Red Army Soldier.

Or a member of the Das Reich Division.......

The Russians have taken a massive 167,000 casualties this week. This is before we eliminate the pockets.

the Russians even drop by 15,000 men, they've lost this many.

Our reinforcements have slowed a bit in the mud.

I get a load of Italian units to ship to the front and......

HITLER! Stop sacking my Generals.

Here are the guys I put in charge instead.

At least my supplies look good.
