War in the East

by Grey Hunter

Part 65

The Finns cannot continue their advance any further south.

Which is a Shame, as the southern forces continue to move north. They fail to cut the rail line by one hex.

My grand encirclement is to fail over ten kilometres of advance.

9th Army is static still.

4th Army moves forwards, but we also see the first mechanized Corps in the area. I expect to see more of these, seeing that the Russians now lack tanks.

I start by liquidating the pocket I formed last turn.

I don't have much fuel to spare, and I want to start thinking about my winter lines, so I settle for surrounding an Army HQ and two tank Corps.

There are still more enemies that need eliminating past Stalingrad, and I do so quickly.

I also miss out on another encirclement.

But manage to secure a smaller one.

Far to the south, more pockets are broken up.

But the rest of the advance is stalled.

At least me cutting the rail line has caused them all sorts of supply problems. Its hard to get supplies over the mountains.

My own attempts to break through gain me little.

The Russians mount no attacks. Why?

They have all but abandoned the north. This is a massive gain for me, and they have still left at least three Corps and fifteen other units, all of who are ripe for me to cut off.

Where have those men gone, you ask?

Yeah, I think my advance here is over for the year.

The reds are hurting in the south however, so I may still get closer to Baku.

The Russian Losses continue to be high.

Their numbers this week do jump up to 5.4 million however.

There is a slight dip in replacements this week.

My fuel pool is all but gone, so I'm not to worried that my advances are over. Its time to sort out the front line.

And what a line that will be.
