War in the East

by Grey Hunter

Part 91

The Finns cause a few units to retreat, but cannot advance any further by order of their leaders.

I widen the gap between the two fronts a little.

I then get to work on the pocket.

This quickly gets bloody.

The Russians have abandoned a large part of the lands west of Moscow, and 9th Army flows into this gap, clearing out tens of thousands of men before them.

I sweep up, and the numbers keep mounting. I also take out a General or two.

Some surrenders are larger than others.

Even their supposedly elite Guards units are quick to give up.

While I cannot eliminate all the troops, I do take about two thirds of the pocket, the Russians seem to have little fight in them, and with no airbases left in the area, I get some SS units to the edge of the city.

I could have board you with many more screen shots, but they would all have been the same.

Here I continue to re-order my men, making sure I can hold back the Russians.

This is the only thing of interest to happen here. I'm in a holding pattern.

The Russians make a few more attacks, but none are of any importance.

The men in Moscow are now doomed, I'm moving my estimate up to about 1.2 million men now.

The Russian losses are horrendious, over 800,000 men in one week, taking them over the ten million man mark.

Russian total numbers drop by about the same amount.

Replacements continue to swell our ranks.

And our supplies are unaffected.

The Moscow pocket should be dissolved next week.
