Introduction

You're being treated to a very special LP by myself, Azure_Horizon, who just finished Grandia but also completed Vandal Hearts and Saiyuki: Journey West over the past year, and Krysmphoenix, who most recently did the Azure Dreams LP. We're going to be bringing you two games at once, Wild ARMs and its PS2 remake, Alter Code: F. AC: F expands upon the original by adding in more playable characters and concepts from the next two Wild ARMs games. I've never played it so I don't know if it's as good as the original game or not, but I for one have a nostalgia boner for the original game.
Wild ARMs intro in High Def (WATCH THIS)
This is among my favorite game intros of all time. The music is gorgeous, the animation stellar, and it makes me want to play the game immediately.
And some lyrics you could add onto the song, by SKBasis:
quote:
Although the past is hard to forget
We must move on, without a regret
For though the visions may last
Of the pain of the past
It's not over yet
Until the war is over and done
Until the final battle is won
Grit your teeth through the strife
And remember your life's
Only just begun
(instrumental break here)
From day to day, our lives must go on
Until the shine of daylight is gone
And so we journey despite
The darkness of night
Till we reach the dawn
What is Wild ARMs?
If you haven't followed Haller's Wild ARMs 2 LP, geri_khan's Wild ARMs 3 LP, or DarkHamsterLord's Wild ARMs 5 LP, you probably don't know what the series is about. Generally, it's set on a world called Filgaia, which is usually falling apart and becoming more desert-like, thus giving the series its Western motif. Wild ARMs 1 started it all, and in my opinion, accomplished it best. Each game features characters that use a forbidden technology called ARMs, usually tied to some ancient culture or ancient power that everyone wants. This game is unique in the series in that its plot isn't overly retarded, its characters fairly likable if not archetypal, and its gameplay very cut-and-dry without interesting (or useless) added game mechanics.
If you HAVE followed the other Wild ARMs LPs, you'll notice that this game does not have the "Personal Skills" addition from Wild ARMs 2, nor the obtuse Millenium Puzzles in 3, 4, and 5, nor the HEX system in the latter two, or any of that at all. It's an incredibly classic turn-based game that introduces, at least, the Force Level system and the ability to modify your ARMs.
The game follows the story of three 'Dream Chasers':
Rudy Roughknight

Rudy is a bit of an outsider, and after being orphaned by his grandfather ends up in Surf Village. He is taken in by its mayor, until a boy gets lost in the nearby Berry Cave, forcing Rudy to do something that would only further ostracize him from society.
Jack Van Burace

A treasure hunter seeking power and fame, accompanied by a 'wind mouse' named Hanpan, his loyal accomplice.
Cecilia Adlehyde

A young princess training to become a Crest Sorceress in Curan Abbey, she begins to receives visions from creatures known as Guardians about impending doom...
The way the LP is going to work is that Krysmphoenix will be contributing Alter Code: F updates that match my work up until we get to optional content, in which case his updates will outnumber mine. I'll be starting with Rudy as our first path, then Jack, then Cecilia. Expect the first update shortly, after Krysm gets his OP up.
