Part 10: Chapter 10
Look in slit.
Good thought. Operating by adventure game logic, there could be fabulous treasures in there. After all, we just found four things lying around a well house for no particular reason.
>look in slit
You find nothing of interest.
It's just a 2-inch slit in the rock, through which the stream is flowing.
I guess the adventure game logic isn't in full force yet.
Clearly we won't get lost if there's no more forest.
(I have no idea if we can actually light a fire, but I'm assuming since we have a lantern and all...)
There's some lateral thinking! Let's give it a shot. Of course, we'll have to go to where the forest is first.
You are in open forest near both a valley and a road.
This dangerous act would achieve little.
Sez YOU, game!
Of course, given the way the laws of physics seem to be bent in the forest, who knows what would happen if it were actually on fire? Either the fire would go east and end up heading west and be completely self-contained, or it would go up or something and end up everywhere in the world at once.
And ending the world right now would be inconvenient, because we have treasure to find.
In A Valley
You are in a valley in the forest beside a stream tumbling along a rocky bed.
At Slit In Streambed
At your feet all the water of the stream splashes into a 2-inch slit in the rock. Downstream the streambed is bare rock.
Anything else to do here or should we move on? (And if so, to where?)
