“They’ve breached my armor!” Rebecca cried, a trace of panic carrying even over the tinny quality of the comms. “I—”

Anything else she may have said was cut off as the Raven was struck directly by a bolt of lightning more powerful than anything a PPC was capable of. It strobed brightly, and forks struck the Mongoose and the downed Awesome as well. A gout of smoke poured from the Raven’s stricken right leg as the lightning fried something vital and unprotected; its armor ran white-hot at the seams and where its feet met the ground.

Paul Masters didn’t allow himself much time to dwell on the weather, and twisted his control sticks to seize advantage of a sudden calm to finish neutering the enemy Urbanmech with his autocannon. The pilot, apparently not thrilled with his chances, punched out even as the Orion’s missiles blasted armor and myomer from the walking trashcan’s torso armor. It toppled as another powerful bolt of lightning struck the water between them.

“Nice day for a `Mech war, eh captain?” Janos grunted into the comms.
