He flinched—it was second nature, the beam had come close enough to scorch the paint on his Blackjack’s head. His own shots missed wide, to either side of the Hussar—fast little bastard.

Lieutenant Barnes chortled into the comms. “Ha, got you now you snake bastard! Let’s see you get over the river with no leg armor!”

Desmond grinned, if the LT’s proclamation was accurate, setting a single foot in the nearby river would cost the Dragon its leg! He had little time to dwell on this sudden turn of events, however, as the tiny bastard of a Spider rocketed off its perch—bearing straight at his position.

“Look out, Desmond!” Yoshita warned, unhelpfully, “he’s going to try for Death from Above!”
