An angry red light shone in Mechwarrior Lucas’ bionic right eye as his Warhammer IIC shook under combined enemy fire. At thirty-nine he was far past his prime as a `Mechwarrior and too traditionally minded to argue otherwise. The vicious scars that marred the right side of his face, arm, and upper torso told the story of his first encounter with the elementals of the hated Clan Ghost Bear, the same fateful encounter that had left Lucas infirm and unable to compete for his rightful bloodname. Over his career, Lucas had fought in innumerable trials and his codex boasted over sixteen `Mech kills. He did not blame the Ghost Bears for his failure.

All that was left for him was death.

“The Khan was right,” he growled into the comms as his armor diagnostics flashed from yellow to orange, but of yet failed to show the worrying red of a true breach. Weathering the enemy assault, he dropped his crosshairs in line with a Star League vintage Flashman and opened fire with nearly every weapon in his arsenal.

He needn’t have bothered, the Flashman staggered and fell as his first shot blew apart the `Mech’s dome-shaped head.

“These Inner Sphere `Mechwarriors fight like dogs, and we will put them down like dogs. Kinsmen, there is no honor to be won here: only victory. Crush these invaders by any means necessary.”
