Nergal Reactor: Tactical Update 13

Takashi Meyer suppressed an involuntary flinch as the enemy artillery `Mech launched another pair of missiles his way. The first arced skyward on a pillar of smoke, its contrail vanishing in the direction of the late-morning sun. His hud drew a lingering trio of lasers from a position just below the assault `Mech’s chin, but Takashi couldn’t tell what its target was or whether or not they had struck their target.

His eyes were fixed on the other missile as it bore down on him, at once swifter than he could react and all the same so slow he could make out the white paint on the tips of its leading fins. It would have been the death of him, but fortune or some local Kami or the Dragon or perhaps some of that evil wizard Hanse Davion’s black magic shielded the rebellious Dragon’s Tear. The missile, spiraling slowly, passed over the battered Lament’s shoulder. Its proximity fuse failed to fire, and with a sudden roar the missile veered off at a sharp angle towards the manmade island that had once housed the false power plant. It might have circled for another attempt had it not struck the raised and unblemished shield of the downed Mountain Lion.
