“I’m finally getting real comm chatter from the Sword of Light,” Chu-i Rosenberg broadcast. Her hands worked furiously over the Hatamoto-Chi’s console. She’d been trying to find the Sword’s C&C frequency since they’d touched down. Normally her task would have been aided by establishing direct line-of-sight for a brief laser-comm frequency exchange, but Konpei island was a mess of metallic objects and electronic noise. She wasn’t much of a communications officer, but she was better at it than Hawk and Captain Dupont had her hands full.

“They’ve downed two hostiles, but they’re still outnumbered. Isoroku-sama sends his regards for lending him Captain Jagoda. He says she has a ‘Zen Spirit,’” Rosenberg laughed. “Whatever that means.”
