Next Turn’s Movement Phase



Point Commander Cairn’s ear-to-ear grin would’ve terrified the pitiful freebirths of ComStar, could they but see it. His massive, corded muscles tensed as he clung to the enemy Champion. The rest of his point swarmed over the pitifully outdated design, working to distract the pilot while Cairn got his murder on.

He’d been relegated to service as a marine when he’d failed out of his Sibko in his last year—but an almost-Elemental was not something that Clan Hell’s Horses would simply waste. He’d been elevated to Warrior in spite of his poor scores, and stationed aboard the Black Night to deter anyone foolish enough to try to board her.

His two-year career had been long and extremely tedious—until now. When Star Commander Rarity had bid three points of the Black Night’s elementals in lieu of her star’s Stone Rhino and Warhammer IIC, Cairn had lept at the chance to prove himself—and slain Point Commanders Inward and Noa for the privilege of doing so.

With a strength born of a desperate desire to prove himself a true warrior added to the bundles of myomer interlaced with his Elemental armor, Cairn wrenched a gaping hole in the Champion’s back as it ran. Thrusting his right arm through the breach, he filled the Champion’s guts with small laser fire. He dropped away as the Champion’s heat spiked beneath him, and his star followed suite instants before a great blast of air tore the Champion’s rear armor apart and sent it rocking forward like a marionette with cut strings. It didn’t tumble off into the void, held in place by the battery-powered electromagnets—for at least a while longer, anyway—but instead wobbled back and forth as small pockets of air still trapped within the design spent themselves like rocket fuel and powerless myomer bundles simply lost tension catastrophically.

He did not envy that Champion’s poor pilot, but he did not have time to waste. He turned abruptly, jetting away silently in his search for something new to murder.
