Part 13: World of Ruin Roundup 3

Welcome back, today I go through the dream world and begin finding the optimal grinding locations for when I need to deal with people who aren't Shanon.

This'll be my team for Jean's dream. It's a mistake, but not bad enough to give up.

Before that though, I decide to see what enemies are around the castle. The cats and my least favorite squirrels are here. I didn't really think about it when I first fought them, but their instant death attack is actually a physical, hence why I finally decided to cast vanish.

Then they do this, which counts as a spell and melts the buff and they immediately proceed to instagib everyone.

So trying again.

I guess it wasn't that bad of a reward, but still not worth it.

Yeah, not worth dealing with, at least unless I can't find a better source.

Y'know, before we watched the video, I had a whisper in the back of my mind saying, "Ryu is here, the Midwest will soon follow." Yet I said nothing since I didn't want to force it. It didn't show up in the video, but it was in the ROM all along!

So here's the first point where I regret bringing this team. If I could target Bum Rush this would be over fast, but of course it isn't. My main source of damage is random. Fire Dance would heal Curley and Moe, Air Blade would heal Larry. One character is completely uncontrollable, Touka is geared without item (and I've perpetually had only one Fenix Down for hours because I keep forgetting to restock even if I did) and Iggy seems to constantly dying, and never learned Osmosis so neither does Touka. So I deal with it. I almost got Curley down to killing range (Pearl Wind only healed about 5500HP once) but couldn't finish him.

Finally.

Now Curley, sit back and watch as you are powerless to stop me.

You will be the last to die.

Physician, heal thyself.

I didn't mention it in the video, but there's a trick to this chest. Pull the switch to move the left box down...

Then pull it again, the right one drops down so you can walk right over to it.

So now, for Liquidy's benefit, the other memories Jean has.

So liquidy said that X-zone didn't work, I wanted to see for myself. As you can see, both SoulSavers got zoned.

But they come right back. And Wrexsoul pops up to taunt, he isn't booted out of one of the team's body, he immediately vanishes.

Now comes the next mistake of this party. Still can't focus damage, but I also gave Caesar the snow muffler, and a ribbon. He's virtually unkillable, and guess who Wrexsoul chose to possess? Restarted to fix that.

So now to begin leveling a b-squad. I don't know why Chichi is so low level, but she can level (and start learning Ultima) with these goobers.

Going to try the default leveling spot in vanilla. Let's just wander around the South West desert. Nothing bad happens out there.

Nothing at all...

Welp, guess I was wrong about that. This guy gives 8MP, but not experience, plus a mountain of HP.

This guy returns from the WoB triangle island forest, still a nasty bugger, but far more manageable.

About 900 experience and good MP, maybe worth caring about if I need to fine tune my esper level up coordination.

And another returner.

I gave Legato an offering and genji glove. For such a huge pile of numbers, he's still so very, very bad.

Artly Jon the invisible Mantis is in a nearby forest too. 2 of them in fact. They're vulnerable to break, so that's how I deal with them.

Also in the forest are these bombs

Decent experience but lousy MP.

I get one of Legato's dreams while leveling. Just a Baram and Clyde recolor, not going to find out that Legato is a moogle under his mask.

These few islands near the veldt are also considered the veldt.

What could possibly go wrong?

Well I guess I know who the T-rex is in this game.

Mist Toxic is just a physical attack, no posion or wind element or anything. However it is a 5x attack. Thankfully his attack stat is lousy (though getting cracked in the back with it still hurts). So sadly we don't have a rage user.

Looking at the readme, they have megalixir as a steal, so that's something to consider later.

These guys are also here.

And here's Brachiosaur. Maximum HP (plus Life3, of course) and fast. He's got insanely high physical and magic evade.

He's vulnerable to slow, but will need to be vanished to get it to stick. Pearl and Fire are weaknesses, but will need to lay on unblockable magic/techniques to hit.

He has party wide ice attacks and Plasma for elemental damage. He knows Level 3 Muddle, and has a special attack that sets a condemned counter to about 20 ticks. So with a Paladin shield on one person, and a snow muffler and thunder shield on Legato the party can survive everything but the timers.

These are the awards, no special drops, and you can steal... a thornlet. I can buy that you shit.
