Part 18: Kefka's Tower Roundup 2

Welcome back, all that's left is the final climb.

First, the tale of the tape on our side.

We've said all that there is for Chichi. Legato, mediocre as he is in almost everything else, is meaty enough to take most of the hits that don't have an insane multiplier tucked behind it. Iggy is as good as ever, and I managed to get Caesar here without Spiraler being learned.

And aside from Touka and Shanon, I'm just going to do the Gilligan's Island treatment and "and the rest" these goobers.

Behind the scenes I've tossed some random espers on the people who can use the Magic command that I think may be useful. Note no one has above 3000 HP or anything, I didn't bother to get the Red Duster. all the way.

For example, I just decided to give Legato Odin, because why not? I mean, its early on in the fight can always reset if it fails.

It doesn't. Long Arm is susceptible to instant death.

The aftermath of round one. Legato has the Paladin Shield for some reason that I never bothered to take off. So he's designated survivor.

This party is marginally better than the ones who fell. Aside from Winry maybe, at least so I thought.

That being said she's still able to contribute some damage, its not 4-6k Ultimas, but its still better than nothing.

Unfortunately Caesar and Touka are equipped with gear giving a crippling fire weakness. The party has no means of dispelling Haste2 from the enemy party, and just gets locked where Legato and Winry are the only ones who deign to live more than 2 seconds.

But Winry is mostly fast enough to keep pace with the enemies, so just resorts to constantly jumping to survive.

She couldn't survive the 10 Hit equivalent death counter though. Shanon and Chichi replace Touka and Caesar. Girl and Sleep go without incident

Not seen in the video, the randomizer's name is taken from Kefka announcing his ultimate attack.

And some weird Anime/Manga stylized effect zooming in on Kefka's head as he laughs. Unfortunately Chichi just can't survive Goner even when shelled. Touka and Legato can, but with diminished numbers they get picked off by either HyperDrive or Meteor.

Take 2 is mostly the same as the first. The only change to equipment was giving Chichi the Paladin Shield and Legato a Thunder Shield. Now I already noted that Long Arm can be killed instantly, but there's other quirks of the other enemies, which I'll list off the highlights.

Also, just assume everything is insanely fast and high level.
Face can be blinded, and apparently starts the battle invisible.
Short arm can be muted. Too bad Bear Cutter is a special attack.

Hit (AKA Blue Hulk) is only sort of fast, rather than insanely so. He has an elemental weakness to poison, but the status will not stick. He can be berserked, slowed, or even stopped. However it never seemed to hit when Winry was laying out Stunners in the first attempt. While reraise didn't seem to stick in the video, it does work when I fought him... the first time. This party can dispel it and definitely did so.

Tools (center target) can be condemned.

Tiger (bottom, er... tiger face) can be poisoned. Which I took advantage of in the first fight but didn't need to on this one where Ultima Quick was on the table.

Magic (naked Sabin) apparently is automatically berserk. Which doesn't stop him from hurling flares, countering with Quartr, Hasting or Rasping all over the place. I also mispoke in the video, it wasn't Shimsham, it was Sonic Boom, appropriate for naked Sabin and his blitzes.

Sleep starts with Shell. His Magic stat is garbage, which is why besides W Wind his attack spells aren't too troublesome. His replacement for Calmness isn't the thing of Nightmares. He seems to only use it once, and it isn't a nearly certain hit.

Sleep has a 6% chance to be morphed apparently.

Like Vanilla, Girl is a there purely to keep Sleep alive. The only other thing of note is that you can steal a Ragnarok from her.

So Calmness Rend Flee isn't as bad as I said.

And I meant it.

So somehow I end up with the same party, just gently jiggled around. Now aside from the Glass Shanon, everyone can survive Goner. And everyone is definitely queuing up Quick to either do major damage, or to snap recover from a nasty hit.

After the first Goner goes, every turn after can either be Havok Wing HyperDrive, Trine, or this. While it doesn't look like anything has happened, he's wiped everyone's status. This is basically Zeromus's Black Hole in a psychedelic shell. So Big Guard and Life3's all around after this.

Not seen either by me or in the video. Kefka can use Ultima, either after Goner once he's below 7680HP, or as a random counter just above 10k. Remember, while Goner has a bigger multiplier it is mitigated by Magic Defenses, Ultima is fatal, at least for my levels.

For fun, here's Kefka's deal, directly from the Readme:

Note that speed , and even when slowed he's still insanely fast. Realize how much I milked Palidor and Maduin, and I'm still getting lapped. Also, his Magic stat is garbage, but between having the Morph state and high levels he can still make Goner go.

Finally he has a pupper, but who would know? I certainly wasn't going to do anything but Ultima or Rush his bum and end up getting my throat ripped out.

But this time was good enough. That's it for the roundups, thanks for reading. Stay tuned for when I actually figure out how to stream and herd cats into it.
