NG+ Update 09: Silent Witness

After grabbing the ID Card we’re ready to enter BioCorp. But before we get to the card reader…

Music: Remaining Traces

The trio walk through the entry hall to BioCorp. However, Nina quickly begins to lag behind.

Suddenly, she starts to cough violently and collapses.

: Nina, are you okay?

: I’ll check ahead.

: The gas was neutralised.

Nina slumps forwards, and black residue falls from her wings.

:…taking a rest. If anyone can help Nina, that’s where they’ll be.

This is the first SOL scene in BioCorp. Unsurprisingly, all of them revolve around Nina and her mysterious past.

When we first entered BioCorp during our initial run, a scene played here showing the party waiting for Lin to return from scouting ahead.

When she returned she seemed a bit distracted, but quickly pointed Ryu in the direction of the chief scientist’s room.

Music: Sorrowful Colour

The SOL scene that plays beforehand in subsequent playthroughs might explain why she seemed slightly off-kilter.

:…atmospheric pollution?!

So we have a room full of headless Nina clones. Lovely. No wonder Lin glossed over her findings and urged everyone to move on quickly.

Music: BioCorp

That room is actually in the level, too. It’s behind this sealed door we found on our first playthrough. Lin must really not have wanted Ryu or Nina to see what was inside.

There’s a D-Ratio Door right near the beginning of the stage, and unlike the ones before it this one contains a rather lengthy side area.

Specifically, it leads to BioCorp’s basement.

The first area is an abandoned lab full of Goos and Hychees.

Our reward for clearing it out is G-Inferno, a third tier fire trap.

There’s nothing subtle or clever about G-Inferno. It’s just a huge burning rune that deals tremendous amounts of fire damage to anything foolish enough to step into it.

Further on in the level we find this. It’s a very large version of the armour Armstrongs wear on their, uh, arms. You can’t do anything with it, but it’s nice to look at.

Further in we find an elevator that takes us to the sub-basement.

The sub-basement contains three Kanaphages and a couple of Rafflesias.

With our NG+ kit it’s easy to kill Kanaphages in one hit and turn their golden shells into fat stacks of zenny.

The only other enemies on this floor are two Armstrongs. Thankfully neither is hostile and will ignore the player unless provoked.

The only other point of interest down here is this observation room.

Examining the doll rewards us with another SOL scene.

Music: Kind Friends
