There’s a D-Ratio Door a couple of screens from the second floor elevator, guarded by a Wonder Box and a handful of Capeks.

The room behind it is full of Petrophages. Kill them all and the Treasure Key appears.

Reflect is a Skill I’ve never had much use for, although I imagine it works wonders against magic-heavy enemies like Hortensia.

The next point of interest occurs after clearing the Danger Room on the third floor. Doing so triggers an SOL scene, but this one is a little different from the others.

This particular SOL scene is, to my knowledge, the only one that actually changes between playthroughs. It involves Lin and Mebeth talking over the radio, but you only ever get to hear one side of it. On your first playthrough you’ll hear Lin’s side, while on New Game+ the scene switches to show Mebeth’s responses. Because of this I have spliced both scenes together in order to show the entire conversation in its proper context.

: But…about that…

: You know that child cannot live long in this atmosphere. It is the only way…

: If…if there was a way to get her outside…if there was a chance…

Mebeth shakes his head.

:…that organisations like ours exist.

: Carry on with your mission, soldier.

With both scenes side by side we get a clearer view of what’s going on. Lin’s doubts about her mission are clearly growing, and she doesn’t seem happy with Mebeth’s deflections. She doesn’t know what he knows - that it’s all a setup - but it’s obvious she’s beginning to think Ryu’s plan to bring Nina to the surface might actually have some merit.

The next SOL scene plays during the elevator trip up to Sector Two. It’s one of the more important and interesting ones, so I think I’ll let it speak for itself.

Music: Remaining Traces

: That way lies only death.

: Yet…you do not know how to use it.

: Fight! Kill!
