Recover the Tacitus
The year is 2034, little time has passed since the Brotherhood of NOD was defeated once more. Despite this, GDI forces are scattered thin once more, and the ever-increasing presence of Tiberium, dwindling funds, and worsening weather is seriously hampering GDI's ability to maintain a cohesive force. Ion Storms are getting worse, with contact between the USS Philadelphia and forces on Earth being cut. To make matters worse, Commander McNeil, as well as the entire crew on board the Kodiak, perished when their ship was struck by Ionized Lightning and crashed near Alexandria.
Based on the map brought up in the cutscene, assuming its our deployment zone, we're landing in the area of Alexandria, Egypt.
Location: Alexandria, Egypt
Objective: Find the Kodiak and retrieve the Tacitus.
Briefing: The Kodiak was lost en route to the Philadelphia. We believe it has crashed somewhere in the area. The Kodiak was carrying the recently recovered Tacitus when it went down. Take a small team and locate the crash site and determine if the Kodiak can be repaired. Recover the Tacitus at all costs. Be advised, there are reports that NOD forces and hostile Tiberian life forms have been sighted in the area. The ion storm is still in full force, so advanced units cannot be used.

Author's note: I'll be honest, I expected more from the first mission. I was sad that the AI didn't build a refinery, although as seen at the end of the mission, there's nothing really to discover.
