Part 61: Day 59 - Opening a bag of worms

Day 59 – Opening up a can bag of worms

I decided to put Yuri's new skillpoints into scavenging, since he has a pretty decent skill in it already. If he and Illyana go scavenging, then they should get quite a lot of materials due to their good relationship.

AM Exploration

I cannot remember if this is the third or the fourth time we have seen this event

First we check it.

And then we wreck it.

A pretty terrible haul, but we did not need the meat from the monkeys, and playing with them is a double-edged sword, as we saw earlier.

PM Exploration

I think we found our “Tree of Death”.

Go for it Julia! I am not exactly sure what she is supposed to do here, but I am sure she will figure it out once she gets there.

We have plenty of skulls back at camp, so we will take the bag.

We have a slightly better change of disbelieving this, so we will try that.

And we fail.

It looks like it is going to get worse for Julia before it gets better.

And it does.

I am not looking forward to seeing what this does to Julia.

Ouch. Good thing we have all those fire crystals saved up for situations like this.

This should be safe enough, so we will skip healing and go straight back to Athena.

Since Julia just got the worms, she will be the one to deliver them.

That actually seems like a pretty delicious smell for something made out of worms.

Before we head back out, let's get Julia healed up.

This should take care of most of the issues.

Julia has a special trait that gives her a 50% bonus to injury healing, which is why it is reduced by 30% instead of the 20% reduction of the other maluses.

Since she is still a little depressed, we will reward her with a box of chocolates for her good work this afternoon.

Unless the event with Zeus goes very badly, this should be enough healing to keep Julia going for a while.

I find it hard to believe that this lunatic is the king of the gods.

As always, looting first.

This could have been useful for curing her sickness earlier, but the fire crystal took care of that.

Next, we will interrogate this mentally ill homeless man.

I see no reason to deny it.

And we get the next leg in our series of fetch quests, but we do get a replacement fire crystal for our troubles.


It is always good to have a backup healer in dangerous situations, so I am not sure why Winters is so offended.

Crew Status:

It took a fire crystal and a box of chocolates, but Julia has recovered from her incident at the tree of death. We also had so much food that we fed everyone and still have some left-over for tomorrow's meal.

Island Status:

11 clouded squares, and 3 jungle squares left. I will probable change the exploration location to target the far south jungle square, since we need to find a beach square for Ares to appear in, and that is the only square that will uncover new beach territory.
