(Yara) The goblins are actually shooting at me. Not very smart of them.
(Talana) Before the death of the Divine, none would dare to shoot at a Dragon Knight. Now they are hated and feared. But they’re now such a rare sight that people have forgotten the reason why they were feared. I think a reminder is in order, don’t you?
I agree.

You’ve changed quite a bit, Dragon Knight. You used to hesitate and look for other ways before rampant slaughter. Power always changes someone. I know that firsthand, of course.

Goblins with wings?
Whatever will they think of next?
Dead goblins with wings.

I have the not-unpleasant feeling the Red Hammer tribe will regard you as apocalypse incarnate!
No one said examples are NICE.

Yara spotted an entrance to a cave. There was a group of goblins standing about. She transformed back to human form, landing on the ledge. The goblins took one look and fled inside.

(Intruk) Stop! Don’t spout your fire breath in here: we do not want to fight you! Our master Svadilfari, may the totems protect him, wants to talk to the Red Hammer’s scourge. Now I go. You’ll not burn me, will you?

Yaara went down a ramp into the cave. It branched at the bottom. To the left was more cave and goblin huts? To the right was a closed door. Yara tried to open it, but it was locked.

(Groth) A human? This is a fortunate day for Groth the Storyteller!
Fortunate? I kind of torched your village, actually.
It was bound to happen. Svadilfari sent our tribe on the path of war. He gambled and he lost. Which is why the request I have is all the more important. Did you know: goblins tell their tales from generation to generation but never write them down? I want to change that! Not much longer will we dwell here and I want our legacy to be preserved. I speak to you in your own tongue. But to make my dream reality I need a human who can read, write, and speak our language. Find me such a person and I’ll give you an ancient book found by the storyteller who came before me… And I’ll open the door.
(-210 XP) The name of Groth shall be famous and goblins respected as writers!
So this storytelling, that’s your function in the clan?
Yes, I recite our tales so that my clan may learn its proud history. It constitutes their only education, but it is the only learning they need.
Why don’t you write down your stories yourself?
I have no arms, human. Besides, I want our tales to be written down not only in the goblin tongue, but also in Common Rivellonian.
How come you goblins have an alphabet if you never write anything down?
We have a beautiful and intricate script with which we can write all we desire in the minutest of detail. But our tradition says only the inside walls of tombs may be adorned with text. There we describe the lives of the dead so they may be found worthy by the gods to have a place among the Great Totems. That is what makes our alphabet holy as dictated by the shamans, but I want to give it a use in life as well as in death.
I’m going.
Totems protect you!

Much Ado About Goblins
Our first friendly goblin! Yay! This quest is well worth doing. It will let us get into Groth’s cave, which has a Skill Book and a Dragon Skill Book, and some harvestable ingredients. There’s also a key to one of Svadilfari’s chests, which contains a Hunter set item.

Yara headed deeper into the cave. One goblin beckoned her over.

(Timpuk) Yes, winged fire-wielder? Can I do something for you?
Tell me about your clan.
We form the Red Hammer tribe, proud clan under the totem of Svadilfari. Humbly did our clan begin, but we will end as masters of the fjords! Our leader has told us all: when Damian walks Rivellon openly again, Svadilfari will be crowned goblin king and we will rule the humans who once oppressed us!
(-1200 XP) When the day comes, I’ll skin all humans and make a beautiful tent out of their hides.
Show me your wares, why don’t you?
Of course.

Deceitful Penguin noted that in Norse Mythology, Svadilfari was the name of a horse who was working for a greater evil, and he was right – Svadilfari is working for Damian.

Waiting at the end of the cave was Svadilfari.

(Svadilfari) Here comes the flying devil that burned my clan to cinders! I’d waste no time on words had I not need of your powers!
What would a goblin demand of a human?
Of a human? Nothing! Of a Dragon on the other hand… You turn against my kin as if it were a law of nature to oppose us. Be that as it may, I think the law of economics may persuade you to resist the tides of instinct.
We’ll see about that. What is it you want? And, more importantly, what is it you offer?
I offer the spoils of war. Chestplates filled with enchanted crystals, weapons fit to slay Demons out of hell. And all I ask in return is the head of that annoying grunt Aurelius, the Captain of the Champions who steers his men from within the harbour.
(-3600 XP) When the time comes, I’ll have that Dragon armour remodelled so I can wear it in combat.
I’d actually rather snog a skunk than help a goblin.
So be it! If you choose pleasure before business, I too will indulge in carnage!

That is a very real possibility, you can indeed accept the quest to kill Aurelius. You lose the treasure Aurelius will give you, but you do get the key to a chest by Svadilfari. And then he tries to kill you anyway because you’re human. Dick.

Svadilfari’s assembled minions attacked.

I’m glad they attacked this time. A lot of the time they just stand still.

Yara’s creature engaged Svadilfari while Yara cleaned up the smaller goblins.

Level 24! I can wear the Scorpion Armour now, but it’ll have to wait until after I’m done here.

Unarmed Expertise

Increased from Rank 8 to 9

Damage Bonus: +107% -> +121%

Svadilfari fled the cave, with Yara in pursuit.

You think that your chances will IMPROVE? Uh, hello, “Dragon”?

Svadilfari is no more and I congratulate you for it! The fjords are safe, now save the rest of Rivellon and enter the Hall of Echoes!

I went back to loot the cave offscreen, including his Dragon Armour.

I’ll probably stick with the Bone Cuirass because health is more important than the fast-regenerating mana in Dragon form.

(Sejanus) Any luck tracking down those wanted criminals?
You could say so… I killed Barnabus, Ragon, Moor, and Alrik. Here is his mace, ring, ledger, and necklace.
Splendid! You certainly earned this gold. Bring me more of these trinkets and the money will keep flowing!
“Barnabus, Ragon, Moor, Alrik” complete! Quest Rewards: 18000 XP, 3200 Gold Bonuses Chosen: Clean Dragon Elf Head, 6750 XP

The Clean Dragon Elf head is the Rank 7 upgrade, another step up in damage, but only a small one.

Magic Missile

Magic Blast

(Brutus) I wonder what led to this calamity in our Healer City.
Deodatus is responsible. No doubt about it.
You’re quite correct, I’ll wager. Blasted lunatic always dabbles with forces beyond his control.
They ought to lock him up once this mess is cleaned up. If it gets cleaned up!
Too bad Richard isn’t here. He’d storm the ghost troops in Aleroth single-handedly.
Ha! So he would. Where is the old hawk anyway?
Broken Valley, I think. Writing another chapter of the ‘Goblin Genocide’.
Hehe. He’ll be filthy rich one day, selling all those hearts. Bloody rich?
Bloody rich, huh? Well, one out of two ain’t bad.

(Aurelius) Your hunt for Svadilfari fares favourably, I hope?
That head of his, does it by any chance look a bit like this?
Divine be praised, you did it! Do you realize what a victory you have procured? Heroics like these deserve heroic rewards – so let me get you your coffer-full of gold!
“A Shaman’s Ransom” complete! Quest Reward: 6000 XP, 1000 Gold. Bonus Chosen: 3000 XP, Clean Goblin Arms.

I wasn’t sure if the arms my creature had were as good as these. They were the same kind, so it was a bit of a waste of a reward. Oh well. I can make up that 500 extra gold easily another way. Now off to High Hall!

I added +3 Vitality and +3 Mana charms to the new ring.

Total Bunnies Killed: 14… or 15.

(Groth) A human? This is a fortunate day for Groth the Storyteller!

Care to explain that?
I need one of your species to help me fufill an old wish of mine.

Why don’t you open the door? Makes it more pleasant to talk.
Not just yet. I need one of your species to help me fulfill an old wish of mine.

There's a lot of alternate options in your conversation choices with Svadilfari, even though there's ultimately only one outcome.

(Svadilfari) Here comes the flying devil that burned my clan to cinders! I’d waste no time on words had I not need of your powers!
1b. I have no need of your powers, so why would I waste words?
Are you sure of that, Dragon? It is not only your kind that brought strong magic into this realm!

1c. The dead should not speak, so talk no more and fight me.
What have I done unto you that I should be approached by nothing but the living lust for murder?

You turn against my kin as if it were a law of nature to oppose us. Be that as it may, I think the law of economics may persuade you to resist the tides of instinct.

I’ll not resist what heart and mind tell me is right. The flying devil comes for you today. / Nature and economics go hand in hand, Svadilfari. Your head will earn me a coffer-full of gold. I think I’ll cash in.
So be it! If you choose pleasure before business, I too will indulge in carnage!

Let's see the alternate choice where you side with Svadilfari.

And all I ask in return is the head of that annoying grunt Aurelius, the Captain of the Champions who steers his men from within the harbour.
That’s it? Then get ready to hand over the spoils.
A wise choice.

And all I ask in return is the head of that annoying grunt Aurelius, the Captain of the Champions who steers his men from within the harbour.
That’s funny. He asked me for yours.
Is that so? Then I’ll give you this chance to reconsider.

Two more options.

1. No dice, Svadilfari. I have enough weapons. And besides, I long to see your black blood flow!
So be it! If you choose pleasure before business, I too will indulge in carnage!

2. I care as little for Aurelius as I care for you and your bid sounds interesting. I’ll kill him for you.
A wise choice. His death has long been a desire of mine and I have planned it carefully. All I needed was a human, or one that could take such silly forms, so bring my head to Aurelius. A fake head, obviously. But touching it, as he will do, shall release a cloud of poison. So take it, Dragon, and bring Aurelius the trophy he longs for, Make his day.

That gives you the quest to kill Aurelius, but you are not locked into it. And after that, you can talk to him again to learn more about his motivations.

Video: More Svadilfari

How fares my Draconic assassin?
Why is it you want Aurelius dead?
For the very obvious reason that he is the leader of the Champions in the Oribas Fjords. After his death a full assault on the harbour would follow. This has to wait now that you have destroyed much of my forces, but I am still confident his liquidation will suit my purposes.
Is there a reason you leading your army to war with the humans after years of peace?
Peace? There has never been peace! Decades of tentative ceasefire perhaps, but not harmony. And now the time has come to stop the charade and destroy all human presence in the fjords! The goblins will rise to power. Power with the help of the Ring!
Power with the help of the Ring? Did you mean the Black Ring?
Damian will rule Rivellon, Dragon Knight. Join him or be obliterated.
I changed my mind, Svadilfari. It is you who shall die by my hand, not Aurelius.
I should have known you would turn to low-hearted treachery. The human in you is still stronger than the Dragon. That much is obvious! Which is a good thing, I suppose. It will make it a lot easier for me to shred you.

I went to the trader near Morgan to sell stuff.

(Morgan) Do you think we’ll be safe from the ghosts here in the harbour?
(Leon) Certainly! Unless the Champions can’t hold the city and they spread into the Fjords, that is.
Perish the thought!

I also missed Morgan’s diary nearby. It explains how he met Hermosa.
