Part 238: Sauro - Turn 73

Turn 73
In which I am happy that I have already taken these turns because writing LPs is a lot of work.

- Schneeble/Sauromatia
Site searching turns up nothing and random events give me a few gems, a little bit of unrest, and a cursed unit or two. Nothing exciting. Let's be honest here. At this point you guys have already seen most of the stuff that could happen to us and you're just here for what's left of the intrigue, a few big battles, and builds character's entertaining parodies.

I am sorry to disappoint you all with my post but builds character decided not to challenge me for the fort in Storn Woods, there was not even any PD to stop me on Arcoscephale's old capital, and I failed to kill or be driven off by Lanka.

Hands down, the most interesting thing that happened this turn was the bit where I learned something about how not every spell cast at a fort under siege works the same way. See, the game normally handles such situations by treating the inside of the fort like another province nested inside the normal one. When I cast direct attack magic like Mind Hunt or Earth Attack or Flames from the Sky at Lanka while I have the fort under siege, my attacks go inside.

When Hinnom casts spells like that at Lanka while I have it under siege, the attacks hit my army outside because the game itself does not account for squishy alliances. My army is therefore the "first" enemy that Hinnom's spells find.

However, some spells only impact provinces outside of forts, no matter how badly you wish otherwise. These spells are things like Hurricane, Earthquake, and... I'll just show you what I just hit myself with.

The idea was to finish off Lanka's dominion with one of the very few spells that actually interacts directly with candles. Instead I decreased my own income and filled some baby hydras with so much ennui that they drifted off to morosely eat peasants while sneering slightly at the army life they left behind. Ugh, that scene is so mainstream now.

Maybe Earthquake would have destroyed Lanka's temple given that it's the only temple available, but after this misfire I am not in the mood to experiment.

Not much going on here from my point of view, and there's only one other screenshot you folks might be interested to see.

It's only a battle against PD and Hinnom didn't get involved, but Living Water (and other elements as well) went off here and demonstrates how lovely it is to have spells that scale with path strength.

Aren't they beautiful? You get 1 per rank in the associated element, so what you see here are two casts of Living Water from my W10 queen along with half a dozen elementals that I brought along.

Irrational Objectives:
1. Control the entire isthmus. (Succeeded)
2. Extract an air mage from buildscharacter. (Succeeded)
3. Summon/GoR the Daughter of Typhon. (Succeeded)
4. Extract blood price from Arcoscephale (247 gold). (Failed)
5. Summon 9 Elemental Royalty or cast each of the 6 Royalty summons at least once (current progress: 6/9 or 3/6)
6. Make my final contribution to the LP (no slacking off!) on or before December 12, 2012. (Estimated odds @ current rate: 46%)
