Part 21: The Rescue of the Illusions!

(Kiefer) Okay... I think Magarugi said something about taking Orbs to Slimeland. We have a bunch of orbs, so let's move. I think we'll be able to get there from Londarkia, and we can only get there from Belianoul.

That's worth mentioning - the Lady of the Lake returns random orbs in exchange for World Leaves and Elven Medicine. But on to Slimeland!


There's a big shrine there, but we'll pass that in favor of this nearby home.

Slime Loving Old Man: But still, the slimes didn't seem to want to join me... So I thought of making this island into a slime paradise! Thanks to my skills as a slime breeder, I overrand the island with slimes! If I approach them carelessly, they attack me... But I'm still happy here!
Well...
Slime Loving Old Man: I'm one slime-loving old man! Metal slimes are my favorite! That sleek, agile body, and those round eyes are the best!
(Gilme) Mmm... yeah.
Slime Loving Old Man: That's why I absolutely hate Metal Hunters! Well, let's just leave it at that! I want to hear if you've heard of the Master Slime... Have you ever seen it, the ultimate slime?

Slime Loving Old Man: That's not important right now! Now I've seen everything! But I'll never get sick of seeing slimes!
Now, back to that big shrine thingy.

Dungeon Making Priest: I will open a door that leads to the dungeon of the Spirits.
Let's use these Red, Green, Yellow, and Purple Orbs!
Dungeon Making Priest: Onward! Through the door! May you receive the blessing of the Spirits!
And so we enter a randomly generated dungeon. Nothing special happens until the bottom...

Spirit of Fire: the flames. Although you have not told me your reason for coming, I know it well. You're thinking of helping the Illusions who have been sealed somewhere, yes? With the help of four Spirits, your wish should be granted. However, you must first pass our tests. Use all of your power to utterly destroy my present form. Show me a battle as hot as these flames! Are you up for it?
LET'S DO THIS!

Pretty strong. Incredibly durable. But some time later...

Spirit of Fire: Thus, I will grant the Flame Orb to all of you. (Received the Flame Orb) There are other Orbs to collect. If you do, then you'll definitely be able to reach the sealed Illusions. I will always be here. I look forward to our next meeting.
Well, what can we do with this?

Dungeon Making Priest: another world! Do you want to use the Spirit Orb to open the door to another world?
What the hell! Why not? Here, try this Flame Orb.
Dungeon Making Priest: Flame Orb, is it...? But I can't just use one of them. The Flame Orb, the Earth Orb, the Water Orb, and the Wind Orb... All four must be gathered before they can be used. Gather the remaining orbs and see what happens.

Okay, remember the last update? Where we wandered around everywhere to find orbs? Completing the dungeon causes them reappear randomly throughout the world. So we get to do it again! But we do find a few nice things...


High Tamers are more effective versions of tamers. This is a lucky find!


(Raider) These... aren't slimes. But they're slime-like, I suppose. Pural and Dreen (the purple and green ones, respectively) are part of a set of Elemental-type monster that hang out on Slime Island. It's worth noting because you need Elemental hearts for some high-end stuff.

Behold! The motherlode! The most metal of all metal things - the GoldSlime! It's even faster, more defensive, and worth more XP than any other slime!


(Getz) Those are some seriously advanced bits of engineering. I wonder... OW! Nope, they're powered by dangerous springs and gears, not a single easily-stolen grenade. The Roboster2 is the second most powerful Material-type monster, and the DrakMachine is the most powerful. They both have Blaze and Lightning Cut, but the DrakMachine has BlazeBreath while the Roboster2 has NumbHit.


Light Spirit: to me, travelers. You've overcome a path filled with obstacles. As a reward for your effort, I will grant you one wish.
I want... YOUR HEART!!!
Light Spirit: Sure! Here you go!
That was... easier than I expected.


Wandering Gambler: Whether or not it appears in the dungeon is a matter of luck! Remember that!
Wow! Seeds, nuts, and medals!


Wind Spirit: Do you seek my power? Then you must fight for it! The wind will rage against you! Come now, make up your mind!

Wind Spirit: I will bestow the Wind Orb unto you. That should be enough.


This is a windfall! True Knights are the most potent of knights. In addition to their defense-raising abilities (which are the paramount of all knights), they prevent enemy surprise attacks. On top of all that, this one is WEIGHT 1. Incredible!


Rebirthers can give you a random party member when used in battle. Kind of interesting!


Spirit of Water: I will lend you my power. However, you must prove yourself worthy of it. Show me the power of life that bubbles within you!

Spirit of Water: Take this, the Water Orb, and hurry to the Illusions.
We need to work on Venasu, I think.

Dark Spirit: I do not desire to meet with humans, but I am bound by a pact with Rubiss. Hurry! Tell me your wish!
Do you have an Orb?
Dark Spirit: So you're telling me that you want an orb? Wahahaha! Don't make me laugh! I don't have any orb to give you! All I could do is fight you!
Then I'll take your heart!
Dark Spirit: Wahaha! I like your style! Here you go, kid!


Earth Spirit: Hmm... You want to borrow my power? Well, I wouldn't say it's out of the question, but... It'll cost you, that much I can say. I don't let any little weirdos borrow my power.
(Luin) Hey! We're not just any little weirdos!
Not helpful, Luin.
Earth Spirit: Maybe you can fight with me a little? I'll know more about you when I see you fight!
Alright - one last fight and that should be it!

Now let's go and put these orbs on those pedestals!


Dungeon Making Priest: another world! Do you want to use the Spirit Orb to open the door to another world?
YES! Let's finally get this over with!
Dungeon Making Priest: You've found all four of the Spirit Orbs! With these four, you can cross a path beyond time and space to Gisvarg!
Then let's go!

Ohhh, it's another thrice-cursed randomly generated dungeon! What's this at the bottom, though...

What's up, Kakalon?
(Kakalon) Are you... Kiefer? Oh? Back then, we... We were cast in here when the Master of the Illusions was possessed! Thank you for coming to save us!
Well, let's get you unchained.
Ugh... It's no good! I can't move...!
(Kushalami) Mmm, just let me sleep for five more minutes... Oh!

Oh my... I wonder where I am now! Umm... Well, if it isn't Kiefer! Huh? I can't move my own body... What's happening to me? Oh? So that creature must have done this! My, this is dreadful... Hey, can you do something about this? You can save me, can't you Kiefer?

Can it be true? To think you would collect the power of the Spirits to add to our power... Now we just might have enough power to force our way out of here!
Okay! I'll give it a try! Earth! Tremble before me! Nuuuooooooh!
Oh power of the wind...! Release me from my captivity!
Burning flames! Sear away the darkness with your light!
Power of the water, blue and holy! Wash away the impurity that surrounds me!

have we? We have to do something... We can no longer ignore it.

Author's note: This part is a little garbled and corrupted. The general thrust of things is that they want to track down Gisvarg and rough him up.
