The Dark Knight is a reasonable physical class, if not one that stands out in any particular field. Like most of the other melee classes, its Agility is pretty low, which isn't so great, and their middle-of-the-road Vitality isn't impressing anyone, either. Of course, since the Souleater command eats up 20% of HP to hit enemies, lower HP makes healing easier, but Souleater shouldn't be your main method of attack, especially against bosses, so the lower HP values are mainly just going to be hazardous.

Like some other classes, the Dark Knight rises to meet the challenge of a specific type of enemy, but those are fairly uncommon in most places - the game forces you through a cave full of them at one point, though, so Dark Knights become indispensable for a while. Outside of that, though, the Dark Knight returns to being unremarkable, and should probably be more of a supporting class than a centrepiece of your party.
