Pros:
+Impressive stats
+Those stats are so good they qualify as two pros
+Awesome equipment selection if you ignore axes
+Elemental has longer range than magic and decent damage if you equip well
+Good with nearly every secondary command

Cons:
-Elemental has bad damage without stat boosts
-Managing topographies is a pain in the ass
-Maximizing Elemental damage can leave a late-game Geomancer with poor HP

First off, Elemental uses the same formula for each attack: [(PA + 2) / 2] * MA. It's magical so Magic Attack UP affects it but the Geomancer's own Attack UP doesn't. There's been a lot of debate if PA or MA is worth more. The wiki says MA conclusively which seems odd to me.

Geomancers have awesome stats. Go compare those to the Squire's. Everything but speed is better. Those stats, along with equipment options that accent about every strategy make Geomancers good at about everything. That's their main strength.

Elemental, once you get a few abilities and some good stat boosting equipment can deal a lot of damage for having longer range than magic and being incapable of missing. Until then, it's cumbersome and weak. There are a lot of terrain types, and only one ability works on each. Some, like Hell Ivy, are used almost everywhere. Lava Ball is in, what, three maps, one of which you need another ability to step on the lava and the other is the final pair of maps.

Who the hell cares? I cannot tell you how great Geomancers are at secondary abilities. Agrias is going to be one for it's PA for her Holy Sword, and they have good enough MA that I sometimes put my Draw Out person in it for the extra HP and shields. Geomancers are just plain good.

Incidentally, Ramza is indisputably the best at Elemental because he has male PA and female MA, so he has more of both than anyone else.
