Part 52: Job Analysis: Necromancer




The final job you get in the GBA version after beating the Sealed Temple. It's a powerful magic job.

Stat Changes

Strength: +4
Agility: +1
Stamina: +24
Magic: +29

The Necromancer is actually rather sturdy for a mage class, having the third highest stamina in the game.

Innate Skills

Dark Arts: The Necromancer will cast various Dark Arts spells. You learn these spells by defeating specific enemies with a Necromancer in the party.

Undead: The Necromancer is considered undead. Healing magic and items will hurt it. But Death will bring it up to full HP.

Learned Skills

Oath: Calls forth one of four random monsters to cast a spell at 0 MP cost.
AP Required: 15

Dark Arts 1: Allows any class to cast Drain Touch and Dark Haze.
AP Required: 30

Dark Arts 2: Allows any class to cast Deep Freeze and Evil Mist.
AP Required: 45

Dark Arts 3: Allows any class to cast Meltdown and Hellwind.
AP Required: 60

Dark Arts 4: Allows any class to cast Chaos Drive and Curse
AP Required: 100

Dark Arts 5: Allows any class to cast Dark Flare and Doomsday.
AP Required: 200

Undead: Makes any class Undead.
AP required: 300

Total AP to Master: 750

Dark Arts

Drain Touch: Drains HP from an enemy to heal the caster. Can not be Reflected.
MP Cost: 15

Dark Haze: Does Non-elemental damage to all enemies as well inflicting the Old and Confusion status effects.
MP Cost: 18

Deep Freeze: Does massive Ice elemental damage as well as inflicting the Stop status effect.
MP Cost: 38

Evil Mist: Does massive Poison elemental damage to all enemies as well as inflicting the Poison status effect.
MP Cost: 38

Meltdown: Does massive Fire elemental damage to all enemies as well as inflicting the Sap status effect.
MP Cost: 38

Hellwind: Does massive Wind elemental damage to all enemies as well as inflicting the Petrify status effect.
MP Cost: 38

Chaos Drive: Does massive Thunder elemental damage to all enemies as well as inflicting the Paralysis status effect.
MP Cost: 38

Curse: Attempts to inflict the Poison, Blind, Old, Sleep, Confuse, Berserk, Silence, and Sap status effects to an enemy
MP Cost: 42

Dark Flare: Does massive non elemental damage to all enemies. Ignores the Magic Defense stat.
MP Cost: 52

Doomsday: Does massive non elemental damage to all enemies. Can not be Reflected.
MP Cost: 66

Normal Play Analysis

Good job! You got the final job in the game. It has powerful magic. (Its elemental spells are stronger then the -ga level spells) High HP, and is generally really, really awesome. Of course only one thing left to use it against, The Cloister of the Dead, which is really like using a Patriot Missile against a group of bike riding kindergartners. Basically if you've got Necromancer, you don't need it.
