Part 14: Episode XIII: Poor Planning

Episode XIII: Poor Planning

We're back and in another scene, no less. Why are computers progressively getting more primitive in each scene? Is someone going to be using the Antikythera mechanism by the end of the game?

Azul lumbers in.

"We are to brush our teeth and go beddie-bye before 8:00 sharp."

"We can assume this is the WRO headquarters. Or a hospital. The latter seems too logical, however."
"Good. Two birds with one stone."

Azul lumbers out.

The as-of-yet-unnamed villain girl grabs what appears to be an Azul sized jawbreaker, before following after him.

Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice...

"Protomateria is the "key to controlling Omega"?
"Yes."
"Any ideas? Any, good ideas, mind you."

"...quelling impurity, purging the stream to beckon forth an ultimate fate. Behold mighty Chaos, Omega's squire to the lofty heavens."
"Where did you...?"
"A passage from Dr. Crescent's thesis. But, that's all I know. Unfortunately, I only saw a fragment of the document. That part stuck at as really stupid."
"Someone honestly put that in a thesis paper and submitted it with a straight face? I know the Shinra were dysfunctional, but goddamn. At least they had some standards. I can see what tastes you and this Dr. Crescent had in common, Vincent."
<glare>

"I think we're five degrees away, at this point."

"I think we'll need to gather more data on her to get anywhere."
"And by 'more data' she means we are going to send you half way across the globe on another dangerous assign-"

I really can't imagine.

Outside the WRO Headquarters...

"Alright, single file now, men. I want an orderly siege, here. Phillips! I saw that! No cutting in line! Do you want to stay inside for recess, mister?!"

I like how they brought along a sniper for an indoor invasion, just on the off-chance there might be a security camera or two. It's not like they're going to do anything decent tactical wise and set up a perimeter to assure nobody escapes. That would be assuming far too much of both Deepground and WRO's military training.

Meanwhile, the WRO's entire defense strategy seems to be locking the doors and hoping they go away. Nice.

"So, how do you reckon we're getting in this thing?"
"Couldn't rightly tell you. The shutters look to be a few feet of solid steel. Even a couple RPG hits wouldn't put a dent in this thing. In addition, there's likely multiple shutters for such an emergency."
"Well, what about if we climb in the window?"
"How's that?"
"The windows. Up on the main building. There's no shutters over them or anything. Why can't we just bust them open and infiltrate through there?"
"Well, that's because there's a fence in the way. How would we get our men over the fence? Look at it. There's barbed wire on it. I'm not wrestling with that."
"Don't we have the sniper? He shoot the wires off?"
"He's really not that great a shot. I think that's above his skill level. Have you seen the grills they make those jokers wear for helmets? It's right ridiculous it is."
"Well, at least he has depth perception. I'm walking into things and tripping over stuff all the time with this mask."
"Oh, I miss depth perception!"
"Well, can't we use the choppers?"
"We didn't bring the choppers. It'd take far too long to call them in from HQ. The WRO would be all over us by then."
"Why would we use air support on an attack upon a town with the largest building being perhaps three stories tall? Yet neglect to use that same air support on a siege upon a multi-story office complex? It just seems poor planning, is all."
"Move."
"Oh! Y-Yes, sir!"
"Shi-I mean Hail Weiss and such, sir!"

"Go."
"That's certainly not the infiltration method I would have expected."
"Indeed so."
"Move before I resort to tossing you both over the fence to get in!"

Elsewhere in the base...

"The enemy has breeched the main gate. Hurry! We've already lost six of the blonde guys!"

Vincent rushes off. Meanwhile...

Shalua seems to have caught something out of the corner of her missing eye.

Oh, hey. Lieutenant Elementary School is on the scene too.

Why do I sense an upcoming drama bomb...?
