Part 95: Promotions

Promotions

In Fire Emblem, there is a limit to how many levels a character can gain at one time. The level limit for a character's class is 20 (Save for a few classes like Taguel, Manakete, Villager, etc). How does a character gain more stats once they reached that limit?

Master Seals

Once one of these bases classes reach level 10, they can be promoted with a Master Seal to their respective advanced classes. When promoting, characters change their base stats to their advanced class's stats (So you're not actually gaining stats permanently, you're just changing numbers around).

I.E.

Chrom promotes to a Great Lord

->

The "stat gains" shown in the 2nd image is actually how much bigger the Great Lord's base stats are. If we switch Chrom back to Lord immediately, he will still have the exact same stats when he was a Lord.

Don't worry about lost stats or Weapon Ranks once you promote. The game internally keeps check of it all, so if you switch to a class that doesn't use the A-rank weapon your character uses, switching back to it will still keep your A rank.

Each base class can promote into two advanced classes, though some base classes share advanced class.
