Mission #51: Is This Reality?

: ... ...Ouch...
: Ahh, ouch... What kind of braking is that!?
Frankly, I think they should be grateful Kazuki knew how to drive a train at all...
: Dude, you gotta do something about those brakes...
: Shut up and get ready. The enemies are not going to wait for us.
: Yes, sir, boss!
: Yeah, why don't you chill out a little?
Yeah, it's like we about to fight our way into the headquarters of an army of genetically enhanced super-soliders!
: Get ready!

: Don't let them near the embassy! Show Sir Bal the true power of the Real Numbers!
They're math-tastic!

Ryogo, Emma, Dennis and Jose are the pilots. Destruction is their mission.

Without Linny to make him look good, I remember just how disappointing Jose is.

Ryogo gets force-ejected. The enemies here are Shangdis and Wudes, not exactly formidable. They also have these odd spider-wanzers that shoot missiles.

Ah, there one is! Not enough legs to be much of a spider, though.

Emma triggers Pilot Damage I for the 100th time or so. I haven't killed a single pilot with it, though.

Jose kills a Wude. Not that it's much of a challenge. Actually, this is a pretty good map to compare the Emma and Alisa branches. In Alisa's branch, we had to deal with an entire squad of Imaginary Numbers who would camp out on top of buildings and try to avoid your shots. Here, there are rifle wanzers. Much easier.

An enemy Wude showing double needle action. It's like needle squared, except that since needles are less than one, the more needles a wanzer has, the more they suck. Hey, it's been a hundred missions, what do you want from me?

Emma blasts a Shangdi hard.

This mission is also where the Time To Fly gets exposed as the glass wanzer it is. In the past, Kazuki or Marcus would usually run interference, drawing enemy attention from Ryogo. But, without them, the enemy is pounding Ryogo's wanzer.

Hover-on-hover violence must end!

I just realized what this enemy wanzer reminds me of: the lunar lander. Of course, the LM was designed to work in the moon's gravity, so it wouldn't exactly be a great template for an earth-bound military machine, and, in fact, these wanzers look like there constantly about to collapse in on themselves.

Dennis once again forces an enemy to surrender. Too bad it's the only thing he had going for him.

Too bad I don't get to keep it.

Another fine mission. Ryogo wins MVP.

If only that were true...
: Kazuki, let's go meet Alisa!
: Okay, we're going in with the wanzers! Let's go, Emma!
: Okay.
: Whoa, that's pretty gutsy, Kazuki!
: No one can stop Kazuki when he gets like this. We better expect the worst.

Next Time: The Worst!
