Ha ha ha. That looks like a bunny. Maybe name it Money Bunny. The Easter Feaster. The Tough Fluff.

Any chance you can trade out Alisa's rifle for a shotgun? I liked rifles in FM4 because you could just totally ruin single body parts with them, but they were more accurate in that game. No reason for her to continue flailing if she doesn't have to.

No, I'm...I'm not going to do that, if only because I really don't want Alisa to get that close to an enemy wanzer.

Chapter #13: I Ain't Afraid of No Ghosts!

But first, more emails!

Hello

I'm Yuichi Kiryu, a
reporter for JBNN.
You are Kazuki Takemura,
right? Mr. Koike gave me
your E-mail address.

I'd like to know more about
the accident in Yokosuka Base.
I want to report the truth.
Please reply immediately.

JGNN web site has a special
content page.
It's limited access, but
I'll give you the password.
Let's call it a gift.
The password is "YAMS".

: We're famous! Kazuki, let's agree to the interview.
You know who else was famous? Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. It, uh, didn't go so well for them.
: We don't have the time.

Of course

Of course we're not the
culprits. We only tried
to help someone from the base.
The JDF's statement
is a lie.
But we cannot say anything
more, nor do we want you to
write the article.

DHZ
Ryogo, I heard you're
working with the DHZ.
A spender friend of mine
told me.
How nice of the DHZ to let
wanted people hide out.
That would never happen in Japan.

The spender also gave me
a communication log
of the CIU, which I attached.
You can probably use
text restoration software
to decipher it.

Spender is future talk for "Hacker." Like renaming China as "Da Han Zhong," it's just the game trying really hard to pretend that it's the future without having to actually show much in the way of technological innovation.
: ...(Him again.) (Why is he so nice? Who is he?)

Time for a walk in the woods...

: There's a lot of enemies...
: Don't get cold feet. The jungle's one part of the fortress.
: Is there really an entrance?

: Let's use that.
Pretty lucky that the enemy chose to build a maintenance shaft into their base so big that 20-foot tall robots can easily pass through.
:...A drainage ditch?
: It's big enough that a wanzer could get inside.
: Is this really gonna work?
: No time to talk. If we don't hurry, HQ will get annihilated. Let's go!
: The enemy! This is sector C11. Enemy sighted! Repeat, enemy in sector C11! We're moving to intercept! Stop there, or we'll open fire!

Alisa hits the bench. Much like this year's Chicago Bulls, her wanzer is good on paper, but just ends up breaking my heart. In this metaphor, the Kasel M2 Arms are Carlos Boozer.

Right, so the middle of this map is an impassible swamp. There are two bridges that span the gap, one near your starting position, and one all the way at the far end. There's a cannon on each side of the swamp, and one in back. There are also two Jinyos on each side, and one up on the far side of the map. I'll split my forces accordingly.

Kazuki is becoming ever more deadly. Look at him, he punched the enemy wanzer so hard the pilot had to eject!

And then he bashes it until it tries to surrender.

Kazuki gives no quarter. The Berserker and he have become one, a relentless killing machine bound by no laws of man or god. I call this new creation...Berzuki.

Remember when I said I was splitting my troops. What I meant was "Kazuki will massacre the left-hand side of the map while everyone else takes the right...and presumably gags at the sheer bloodbath Kazuki creates.

Berzuki demands blood!

Miho, Ryogo and Liu crush all opposition on their side of the map with machine-like efficiency.

Looks like another captured Jinyo for me!

Ryogo finishes things off with a superfluous chain ROF II combo. In case you're wondering, having 33 HP left in his shield arm is a new record high!

A strong effort all the way around.

: Can we really fit in here?
: What, are you scared?
: ...N-No, not at all!
: Kazuki, you've been afraid of ghosts for a long time.
Yeah, I heard this very base was the site of a gruesome massacre. They say a wanzer the color of dried blood appeared and butchered the entire garrison with his giant axe, mercilessly slashing them over and over as they begged for mercy. They never found the murderer...he could be out there...anywhere.
: Shut up, Alisa!
: Whatever, but if we don't hurry, our allies will be ghosts soon enough!
: It's not scary, Kazuki. Come on. I'll hold your hand.
: Just shut up!

Next Time:The glorious fall of Negros! We capture a base held by the Philippine army whose name is of no importance!
