Mission #26: Theodicy, or Going Nowhere Slow

Much as last path, the party is headed for the Futai Tunnel.

And the party is immediately met by an enemy squadron.

It's never a good sign if the enemy can spot you the second you get over the horizon.

: But we don't have time to turn back.
: Forget about it! We'll just blitz 'em like we always do!
: You got a lotta guts, Ryogo. So how about it? You ready to take them on by yourself?
Well, no, Ryogo said 'we', so unless he has crowned himself the King of the Wanzers, I'm reasonably sure he meant that he wouldn't be going in alone.
: Uh, I take all that back, man.
: Hah hah hah! You aren't gonna live long if you're all talk.
: I don't think you can just live on muscle alone, either.
: Hah hah hah! Of course not! Little lady, I'll show you that I'm not just all muscle!
And then Marcus chugged his fifth Natural Ice of the day, and moved out.

Yun, Dennis, Jose and Marcus are the wanzers of record. Kind of my B-Team, but let's see what they can do.

I see Jose is back to his usual, underwhelming self.

And Marcus is getting his ass kicked by the enemy as well.

Now that's just embarrassing, it'd take a miracle to turn Marcus' battle around.

No such miracle is forthcoming, however. Well, that sucked.

I'd say Jose is improving, but this is after RoF III triggered, so basically, that's how much two rounds of his attacks deal in damage.

And the enemy still has plenty of wanzers to go.

Dennis goes toe-to-toe with a Tiandong. This does not fill me with confidence.

Yun was having, by a wide margin, the most effective mission. It was only fitting, then, that she'd get force-ejected.

Dennis saves the day by blowing both arms off of a Tiandong. Things are looking up.

Damn it.

Damn it!

DAMN I- wait, Jose did something right? Huh.

Okay, here's the situation. Yun and Jose are the only two surviving pilots. The enemy is reduced to a couple of crippled wanzers...and this Yongsai which is at almost full health. If we can get past this one wanzer, we'll win...but it won't be easy.

Unless, of course, Yun strings together a long-enough combo to kill it in a single extended attack.

Checkmate!

The game is rarely appreciative of tense, come-from-behind victories. Yun wins MVP.

: He may already be on Da Han Zhong soil. We should make haste.
You know, I still don't know exactly who owns Taiwan in the future. I think it's the DHZ, but comments like that make me wonder.
: Are they setting a trap for us?
: I would assume so. It's only going to get more difficult.
: I knew it...
: Pull yourself together. We're going after Lukav!
