Episode 5: The Crossroads of Defeat

Hello again! Last time we managed to gain the support of Planeptune’s mascot. Now, on Hyperdimension Neptunia…

Histoire suggested we head to Lastation next, since that underling had let slip that she was heading there.

Yeah. She’s the Oracle and the company’s manager. I admire her work ethic. She’s got a lot on her plate.
How does Histoire act at the Guild? I only know her as an Oracle.
Well, she’s smart, knowledgeable, and outstanding…but…

We weren’t really in a rush or anything, though.

I’m currently calculating that. It will take about three days.
Secret Agent: That’ll be way too late!
Do we have any information about the suspect?
It was a familiar face, but it may take three hours to recall completely.
Secret Agent: Please try to do it in three minutes!
Secret Agent: Pardon me. I’d like a map indicating the known distribution points of Arfoire’s products.
I could assist you with that, however compiling the data and mapping it will take three months.
Secret Agent: After three months, all of their distribution channels will have changed!
It takes too much time to do anything.
Hahaha. That sounds like Histoire.

As my grandpa would say, “More haste makes less speed!”
That doesn’t mean anything. At all.

Wow, congratulations! I thought you were still a nursing student. You were, right?
Hmhmhmm. While you were away, I was studying diligently.
I see. Three years is a long time.
Oh, but if you’ve become a nurse, you have to work at a hospital, right?
Actually, about that…no, it’s fine. Let’s just say I’m taking a long vacation.
But if you’re on vacation for too long, the hospital may give you the axe…
In that case, I’ll find another hospital to hire me.
More importantly, if I’m gone, who’d take care of you and Iffy?
Compa…you’re so sweet! Thank you.
Don’t worry. You can get beaten up as much as you want, because I’m here to heal you right away.
Hahaha. Please don’t make it sound like you want me to get injured.

Feinne’s Notes:
We can pick up a few new quests here before we head to Lastation.

We also get access to a new processor set for Nepgear in the store. Normally it’d be too expensive for this point in the game but I’ve got a lot of credits thanks to the DLC, so I picked it up.

Pirate goes all in on offense compared to our other processor sets. It severely compromises some of our other stats, though, including making us much less likely to avoid being hit. I’m not the biggest fan at this point in the game, because it also compromises our ability to hit enemies and this early misses can be a very real problem.

Of course it does! It…um…
Anyway, we headed to Lastation.

Is this your first time visiting?
Yes, though my sister did tell me about it. Sometimes she brought gadgets back saying they were ‘future-proof.’
It sounded like fun, so now that I’m here I really want to look around.
Keep the girly shopping stereotype locked inside for now. We’ve got a lot of business to take care of.
Y-You’re right. We must work diligently. Lastation is in danger, too. Okay, I won’t window shop. Not yet.
Good for you, Ge-Ge! Iffy, do you know where we should go to get started?
The Guild, I’d imagine. Let’s collect info there and regain some shares by doing a few quests.

It’s a pretty cool place.
And you made a new friend, Ge-Ge!

It just means Arfoire controls the majority of this nation. Hmm… I hope we can get some decent info.
In the meantime, let’s take care of some quests.

I-I don’t know about all that, I mean we just met this girl.

Huh?
Hmm?
(She looks to be about my age. She’s just a child, then… Why is she taking on quests?)
You’re here for quests, too?
Um, y-yes, that’s right.
Is that so? Hmm, I wonder if you’ll be okay. You don’t look very mature.
Excuse me? If you’re going to say something like that, please look at yourself first.
I’m an exception. I’m super tough. Besides, I have to get even stronger and catch up as soon as I can.
Catch up?
Forget I said anything. Why do you want to do quests, anyway?

Yeah, but you guys did seem to get along well.

What a Nobel Prize speech. You’re probably a straight-A student. You want me to applaud?
What? Why? Did I say something wrong?
Pfft, hahaha! Sorry. It’s been a while since I spoke with someone my age, so I became too casual.
That’s a good point. I haven’t spoken with someone my age…ever. I’ve always been around adults.
Ohhh, I see. I’m Uni. You?
Nepgear. It’s nice to meet you, Uni.
Nepgear, hmm? Well Nepgear, since we’re acquaintances, why don’t we go on a quest together?
You’re teaming up with me?
That’s the idea. I’ve always done this stuff alone, so I’m curious how it feels to have someone else with me.
That sounds like a marvelous idea. Sure, let’s have fun together!

Feinne’s Notes:
We now get three more quests, this time allowing us to recover some of Lastation’s shares from Arfoire.

Nepgear can get a new outfit in Lastation, the Black Sailor. I’ll be using it for a bit, it gives her a color scheme that evokes Noire.

Let’s also look really quick at our new party member.

Uni is fast and hits quite hard. Her starting weapon hits a pretty large area but costs a bit more than usual to start a combo with, so take that into account. She’s a lot like having another Nepgear right now, and you might want to go take a crack at the Fenrisulfr before you advance the plot.

We’re just going to do a quest together, that’s all! Next Time on Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Underling Strikes Back! Oh, not again!
