Episode 8: Interlude

Hold on, citizen! I’m sure that isn’t the episode title I gave last time!
I guess they cut some content from the episode.
They?
You know. Them. Anyway, last time on Neptune we met Nisa, the superheroine. Now, on Hyperdimension Neptunia Mark 2…

I have absolutely no idea!
You say that with way too much pride. Not like I expected anything different.
What should we do? We’re so close to learning about the mascot from Lady Kei.
Young Soldier: My apologies. I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but did you girls mention that you’re looking for Hematite?
Yes, Mister Stranger. Who are you?
Young Soldier: I’m part of this town’s security patrol. I saw a deposit of Hematite in a dungeon I went to the last time I was on duty.
Is that so? Could you please tell us where it was?

It was quite convenient that we found someone who knew about the Hematite so quickly.

Exchanging favors, huh? Brings a certain annoying, smug little face to mind.
Of course. Anything.
Young Soldier: Really? Fantastic. Then, could you please go to Rebeat Resort and defeat a monster for me?
It is way beyond the capacity of a simple patrol unit. We’ve been in over our heads.
What a simple mission. I love it!
We’ll go and defeat it right away. Once we come back, please help us.
Young Soldier: Good luck. We’re all counting on you.
How did I do?
Decent. I thought they might smell a rat, but they’re rather gullible. Or…could they be that desperate?
Young Soldier: You don’t need to tantalize them. Why not just vouchsafe the information?
A one-sided trade isn’t an acceptable practice in any business. That said, we need those ingredients…and them.
Regardless, I already gave that girl the same information you promised them.

Indeed! Fortune favors the just!

I believe so. Let’s beat it up and learn where we can get Hematite.

Boss Battle: Sea Hunter
This plaid dolphin might look silly, but it’s quite powerful. It’s got an amazingly strong ranged attack it can use, so you might want to just get your party all into close range surrounding it. Just don’t group anyone up, because then it’ll start hitting multiple people together.

Um, right. Anyway, Compa found something weird after the fight.

That was quicker than anticipated. Let’s go report our success.
Sure. Oh, actually, wait a second.
???: Chuuu…
Gross, it’s a giant rat. Just leave it.
No! As a nurse-in-training, I can’t leave poor, injured Mister Mouse here. Hello, please let me treat your wound.
???: Chu…chuuu?

Yeah, talking animals is a bit much. I think it really interferes with suspension of disbelief.

Chu!?
Mister Mouse, are you all right?
W-Well, may I ask your name, chump?
My name is Compa. It’s wonderful to meet you.
Compa. Compa…chuu!
Oh, where are you going in such a hurry?
That mouse was talking. It was, right?
Our language, no less. Was that nasty rat a monster? Whatever. Satisfied, Nurse Compa? Let’s go.
Mister Mouse…
She m-m-must be an angel, chump! Oh Compa, you must be my guardian angel!

I, I think that’s not a problem here.

Young Soldier: Veteran warrior? I’m in my 20s and have barely fought…
Just gimme the information! It’s your turn to scratch our backs.
Young Soldier: Er, uh, um, sure. A-Ahem. I saw monsters carrying bits of a Hematite deposit at Septent Resort.
I think the monsters in question were the pesky Tae Kwon Cats living there.
Septent Resort, got it. Thank you so much, sir!

Feinne’s Notes:
We get some more quests now.

Some of these take us to a non-plot dungeon, Midcompany, and the rest take us to the new Septent Resort. It’s generally worth it to do every quest you can, because the rewards are always nice and getting shares dealt with now as opposed to later will save us some aggravation. Speaking of shares, the best bet is to just clear out the Arfoire shares from every city and replace them with the home nation’s shares. This will leave you where you’ll need to be for the true ending without any real issues.

Next Time on Hyperdimension Neptunia: Conflict! For real this time, right?
Yes, definitely.
