Episode 11: Ram and Rom

Oh, hello everyone! Previously on Hyperdimension Neptunia, Mark Two, we managed to get the support of Lastation’s mascot character. Now, on Neptune…

We headed for Lowee after finishing up in Lastation.

Wow. It’s so cold, but the city is so beautiful.
It’s always covered in snow here. My nursing instinct says we should buy pants and jackets so we don’t get sick.
If we have time. Our first order of business is to get warmed up by doing some legwork and gathering info.
Okay, so should we go to the Guild?
Nah. Let’s stop by the Basilicom. I haven’t heard anything negative about Lowee’s Oracle, so that should be safe.
We need to take this street in order to get to the Basilicom.
Hey, now. It seems like something big is going on over there. Shall we have a look?
I already said we don’t have time to get sidetracked, so…huh? That’s…
Yo, everyone, check this out! We’re part of ASIC, the people who bring joy and entertainment for all!

It figures that underling lady would already be here, we just can’t seem to get rid of her.

Ugh. I don’t get why I have to do such a pathetic, miserable task like this…handing out fliers…
It’s all those snooty idiots’ fault!
Are we the snooty idiots?
Hell, yeah. An airhead, a ditzy little girl, a broad who acts like a dude, and a really misplaced superhero junkie.
I like to think I’m a well-mannered woman with a lot of feminine qualities.
A ditzy little girl…? I’m not that little, am I?
I’m neither misplaced nor a junkie! Everyone loves superheroes, especially me-a superheroine!
Huh? Whoa! It’s you idiots! Where do you get off, sneaking up on me like that!?
We were pretty obvious, really. Either way, we can’t let you go on spreading this crap around.
You’ve been caught red-handed, villain. Today the judges of justice will give you their verdict!
Damn. This is a pretty sticky situation. Hey, you! Precocious little kid!

And of course she resorts to kidnapping to save her hide. The coward!

Stay right there. You’re my hostage now. Mwahaha, try and attack me if you want. Just know I’ll snap her neck if you do.
As usual, you’re a cowardly peon.
Please stop! She has nothing to do with any of this!
Jeez, shut the hell up! We’re a crime syndicate, for cryin’ out loud. You expect fair play? Well, later!
Waaah… Save me, Ram…
Wh-What do we do? Miss Underling just kidnapped a young girl.
As justice’s greatest superheroine, I cannot let this villainy persist.
I agree. Let’s chase her down!

Right. Obviously we had to go after her.

Feinne’s Notes:
All sorts of fun stuff to show off today. First let’s see some new quests.

Now that we’re in Lowee we can pick up a new outfit for Nepgear with Lowee themed coloration. I combine it with an accessory from the DLC that matches it.

Lowee Global Expo has some new monsters, like the Terits and Bear Balancers.

There are also some cool little touches around the place, like vending machines and posters featuring the CPUs (Neptune and Noire are both visible in the actual dungeon, and in the boss battles later if you watch close you’ll see Vert as well).

Anyway, let’s pick things back up at the end of the dungeon.

She ran with her hostage deep into the Lowee Global Expo. Um, and we didn’t really think this through.

Waaaaah…
Ugh, shut up, kid! Stop blubbering. I gotta get rid of this dead weight…
Halt!
Sonuva…they followed me!?
Let her go and I just might let you go.
You dumbass, why would I let go of my hostage because you asked? Or do you plan to attack me and endanger the kid?
Um, that’s…
How will the heroines solve this conundrum?
We didn’t really think this through, Iffy.

Waaah… Help me…
Heh. Hehehe. Mahahahaha! Fools! Idiots! Thick-headed nincompoops! You really don’t have a plan!?
I think I’m packin’ at least one. Yeah. Yo, come on out!
This’ll be your opponent today. Don’t even bother fighting back. Bwahaha!
What should we do? This is a pretty major crisis, right?
Yep. I can’t believe I acted without thinking ahead.
Since we can’t attack them, should we run away for now?
Unacceptable! If we escape, we can’t save this citizen caught in evil’s clutches!
Look at your stupid, clueless faces. Today will be your last.

Yeah, but everything turned out… well, I don’t want to say okay. It turned out in the end. That’ll work.

Huh? From…above?
Gwaaah!

Miss Underling got beat up again, I guess that’s a win for us? Plus, we found Lowee’s CPU Candidates.

Ram! Wahhhh!
The hell? Another CPU!?
You got some nerve kidnapping Rom. You really crossed the line, you jerk. Look how much you made her cry!
Rom, you should transform, too. Let’s beat this trashy jerk to a pulp!
‘Kay.

I, I guess that is a win. Sort of. If we don’t think too hard about how it turned out.

A-A-Another one!? Excuse the hell outta me, but this is getting ridiculous!
It appears vigilante justice prevails.
They’re twins… The two CPU Candidates of Lowee…
She’s dropped her guard, so let’s take care of her while we can!

We got to vanquish evil, I’ll always call that a win!

Boss Battle: Underling
Underling’s alone this time around (Ram and Rom are in theory fighting the thing she summoned behind the scenes) but she’s got a new trick up her sleeve. This Viral Mist attack hits a line for a bunch of damage and can cause the Virus status (though this is only even a thing for Nepgear). Your best bet is to try and position such that she can’t easily hit two targets with it, or just blow her up fast enough that she doesn’t get to do it much. Do your best to end this fight in as best shape as you can, because we’re not done here yet…

Who are we kidding, we totally got into a fight with people we were hoping to get to help us! That’s not a win at all!

We won, we won! We kick butt!
Kick butt.
They finished up, too.
Wow, that was incredibly cool. CPU twins, a double-dose of divine righteousness!
Huh? Who are they?
They saved me. Kinda.
Is that so? But they didn’t, right? They’re basically useless failures.
I can’t really argue back this time.
Are you two Lowee’s CPU Candidates?
Darn right. We’re Lowee’s pride and joy. I’m Ram and this is Rom.
Uh-huh.
It’s wonderful we ran into you both so soon. I’m a CPU Candidate, also. Neptune is my older sister.

Being fair to us, those brats were pretty crazy.

Planeptune.
Oh yeah, I knew that already. You’re Planeptune’s CPU Candidate.
That’s right. I need to save our sisters, so…
All I know is that means you’re our nemesis!
Nemesis.
Huh? What!? N-No, I’m nobody’s nemesis! W-Why?
You’re another nation’s CPU Candidate. You prolly came here to steal our shares away!
That’s what a book said.
I would never do that. Please listen to me.
Words are overrated, smarty-pants. It’s time for your spanking!
W-Wait just a second!

Still, I wish we didn’t have to fight people who should be our friends.

Boss Battle: Ram and Rom
Ram and Rom are a pretty interesting battle. Neither hits very hard, but they get a lot of actions each turn and they tend to focus their attacks. This adds up to quite a bit of damage incoming on whoever they’re picking on. What’s worse, they’ll heal each other with their Rom Restore/Ram Restore skills (we don’t see Rom heal in this one, but I suspect that’s because I was focusing on her and they’ll only heal the other one). Since they’re casters, though, they’re pretty fragile. And since they’re CPUs, they obviously don’t have access to Virus status to stop Nepgear from rolling them up in a few turns. Just make sure you keep up whoever they’re hitting, because they can easily chew through most of someone’s health bar in a turn.

And now they seem like they’re pretty mad at us.

Owwy… Waaaah…
Argh! You made Rom cry. You really are a villain, just like that trashy jerk!
No, this happened because you two suddenly attacked me.
Shut up, evil nemesis! Next time I see you, I’ll break your legs!
Evil nemesis.
Oh, they left.
They didn’t listen to us at all.
Now I understand why we were told they’d be even more troublesome.

Next Time on Hypderdimension Neptunia: Underling’s Bad Day. What the goodness? Is this next episode even about us?
