Episode 42: Ultimate Showdown: Super Coliseum Level

Hello? Where is everyone? Hmm? What’s this note? “Update sounds lame-o, out for crepes, back next time- Nep” Really, Neptune? Unacceptable! U-Um, I guess this is up to me, then. Hello, viewers! Today, we’ve got some wonderful and interesting things to discuss about our world of Gamindustri. But first, I guess there are new quests?

So, let’s discuss the Coliseum again. Here is an example of what we see when we’re selecting a Coliseum fight:

So, this resembles a Quest in a lot of ways. We get money, items, and will shift Shares around in some city on the map. There is also a suggested level, which tells us approximately how strong the opponent(s) we will face will be, and the actual opponent(s) themselves.

So, the first thing to note is that most of the Coliseum fights at low ranks are basically useless. They pit us up against enemies that we can find out in the world and/or move shares in ways that are undesirable. The fights we care about are ones against boss-style enemies that we cannot find out in the world (indeed, we can refight many of the actual bosses in the Coliseum). Chances are, if you need some weird item to make something and aren’t sure where it comes from you need to fight something in the Coliseum for it. The main ones for these are the Pirate Balls (from fighting Pirachu style enemies), Magic Dampeners (from things that look like the Killachine), and Horsebird parts.

So, once you’ve figured out what item you want and what you need to fight to get it, you want to consider what it is doing to Shares. If you’re lucky, it’s doing something directly reparable or not doing anything at all. What you need to watch for is that some things can shift Shares around in ways that there’s no way to undo. You want to make sure that doesn’t happen, because you always want everyone to have greater than 15% World Share for the True Ending. As long as you’re keeping it in mind and doing something about it, though, it’s not a crucial thing. You do have a lot of shares to play with, after all.

As I noted earlier, there are some items that require very unusual events to happen for you to access them. The most notable of these is the ASCII Bond, which comes when all three types of Shadows in the Severed Dimension are together in a battle and use the ASCII Joint skill to form an ASCII Orchestra. I’ve included a video to demonstrate this.

Not all items you need come from fighting monsters, though. You also need stuff that comes from Gather Points in the dungeons. This brings me to your best bet for these, the free DLC dungeons.

So, the first thing to consider about these dungeons is that they’re very, very hard for when you can first access them. They’re full of monsters that will wreck you for most of the game, so you want to make sure you avoid fights. Where we are in the game right now is about when you want to consider making use of them, since we don’t quite have access to the best sources of some high-end gathered stuff yet. Again, these are free DLC, so you should probably pick them up.

Alright, now that we’ve sorted all that out, have some bonus content:

I’ll include more of the Bonus Voices later.

Are we done here? Okay. Next Time on Hyperdimension Neptunia, Mark Two: Real Ultimate Showdown: CFW Magic!
