Part 6: Episode 6: More talking at the DOASys

Last time we took our first visit back to the lab, and found that our friends there have a serious stick up their bum.

Today I figured we should talk more to the characters in the DOASys. In the conversations below, I've concatenated the responses from several conversations (since the topics are random) in an attempt to get the most out of the inhabitants.

I've also removed responses that are pointless or boring. All characters will tell us where items are, but I'm still pretty adamant that it's inaccurate.

Number Five - re-interviews - Picasso

(General)

Number Five: "What is: Perfect?
Picasso: "A death trap death trap."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect?
Picasso: "Here here."

Number Five: "What is: Perfect?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Picasso: "At first it was just a video game video game! That was before they started the E.E.G E.E.G. hookups. Now it's... it's the whole world! I can barely remember what my wife my wife looks like. Or what I did before I was here hereh here. Do you have any idea what it's like to never sleep never sleep? Never close your eyes? You go crazy!"
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Picasso: "Whaddaya whaddaya mean?"

Number Five: "What is is: The Garden?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Picasso: "Theore-theoretically it's the only habitable part of part of Perfect: the city. But, I'm no so sure so sure that's true. I think maybe you can survive outside the city, maybe even maybe even find a way out."
Number Five: "Where is: The Garden?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Picasso: "The city."

(Characters)

Number Five: "Who is: Perfect 1?
Picasso: "Perfect Perfect 1 is a murderer. Can you save us save us from him?"
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect 1?
Picasso: "We don't know. Maybe you can maybe you can help us find him?"

Number Five: "Who is: Balkan?
Picasso: "Balkan? He's some crazy crazy schizophrenic who's been trying to take take over the residential districts. Watch out for him for him. He's 8th in the Perfect order. So it would take a lot of power power to defeat him."
Number Five: "Where is: Balkan?
Picasso: "The residential residential districts."

Number Five: "Who is: Fly?
Picasso: "She is seventh in the heirarchy. The one who flies flies. She's the she's the only one."
Number Five: "Where is: Fly?
Picasso: "I I don't don't know. She comes and comes and goes."

(Items)

Number Five: "What is: DFA?
Picasso: "An airborne airborne attack."
Number Five: "Where is: DFA?
Picasso: "The park."

Hey, he's got different dialogue!

It was this playthrough that made me realize that you have to visit and converse with certain characters multiple times to "unlock" the more interesting dialogue. Not all topics have mulitiple responses, and there only seem to be a maximum of two responses.

So far, the boss dialog has a fixed set of questions, and revisiting them does nothing.

It seems like pretty much any topic can have multiple responses. You have to exit and re-enter conversation to trigger a different response, so this is very tedious to figure out. I'm only going to be a stickler about getting the multiple responses for "Perfect", "Perfect 1" , and "The Garden". If I bump into more, I'll post them.

Venus knows how to have a good time while watching her caloric intake. Also, boobs.

Number Five - interviews - Venus

(General)
Number Five: "What is: Perfect?"
Venus: "It was supposed to be the perfect virtual ecosystem. That's what we intended, anyway. We must have missed a bug somewhere, somehow. Because now it's starting to crash, and I don't think anyone can stop it."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect?"
Venus: "I never saw the hardware that runs it. I heard a rumors it was out west, near Boulder."

Number Five: "What is: Perfect?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Venus: "I think it's the end of the world. Too many people are trapped inside for the system to support. People are dying now, not here, but outside, in the hard world."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Venus: "*sigh*. It doesn't really matter does it? It's here. It's all we have unless we can find a way out."

Number Five: "What is: The Garden?"
Venus: "It's the same thing as Perfect."
Number Five: "Where is: The Garden?"
Venus: "This is it."

Number Five: "What is: The Garden?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Venus: "Originally it was going to be the centerpiece of perfect, surrounded by something called "The Ecto", a kind of amorphous primordial wasteland. But "The Ecto" code was pulled at the last minute, so the Garden is all there is."
Number Five: "Where is: The Garden?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Venus: "Everything you see is the garden."

(Characters)

Number Five: "Who is: Perfect 1?"
Venus: "Perfect 1 is the master switch. Whoever occupies that position is the only one who can shut down the system."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect 1?"
Venus: "In the spire. You can only enter if you're powerful enough."

Number Five: "Who is: Perfect 1?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Venus: "He's the one we have to kill to find our way out, if that's even possible."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect 1?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Venus: "In the spire."

Number Five: "Who is: Riberto?"
Venus: "He's the one who looks like he's made of a single long ribbon. Six is his rank."
Number Five: "Where is: Riberto?"
Venus: "He's in the south residential district, in a place we called "The Circle of Death". You don't want to get stuck in the center, because you can be attacked from all directions."

Number Five: "Who is: Loki?"
Venus: "He's the third most powerful rhythm. That's why he can change shapes at will. I saw him once change from a Goner to his true form. It was one of the scariest things I've ever seen."
Number Five: "Where is: Loki?"
Venus: "I hear he lives in the stadium. I'd stay away from there if I were you."

Number Five: "Who is: Fly?"
Venus: "She's the only one who can fly. I should know, I wrote the flying algorithms. She's rank seventh."
Number Five: "Where is: Fly?"
Venus: "Her home is the Taurus, in the southwest residential district."

Number Five: "Who is: Chameleon?"
Venus: "He blends into the background. The only way you can see him is if you move around. At least, that's what I hear. He's supposedly the 5th-most powerful rhythm in all of Perfect."
Number Five: "Where is: Chameleon?"
Venus: "I don't know. A lot of people have been killed around the east residential district lately though, and noone's seen anything. Makes you wonder."

Number Five: "Who is: Chance?"
Venus: "He's a priest. Ranked 4th. He's trying to convert us all to his brand of Perfect religion. I think he's insane."
Number Five: "Where is: Chance?"
Venus: "The church. Watch out if you go there. He's got a lot of Goners for disciples, and he's converting more every day."

(Items)

Number Five: "What is: Hex?"
Venus: "High explosive system patch. For what it's worth, it's also a base-16 system of numbering using the digits 0 through 9 and the letters A through F."

Number Five: "What is: Nukeya?"
Venus: "The big bang."
Number Five: "Where is: Nukeya?"
Venus: "I don't know. But if I ever find one, I'm going to try to take Chance out."

She was remarkably well-informed! It is now very clear that we need to kill Perfect 1 if we want to shut down Perfect for good.

Number Five - re-interviews - Goner

(General)

Number Five: "What is: Perfect?"
Goner: "It's whatever you want it to be."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect?"
Goner: "It's everywhere you want to be."

Number Five: "What is: Perfect?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Goner: "That's what we were all asking ourselves when we first heard about it. It was new and exciting, the chance go to where noone had ever gone before, inside someone else's head. The only problem was, the head we all went into wasn't screwed on straight. It doesn't cost much to get in, but the cost of staying is your freedom, and the cost of leaving is your life."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Goner: "Inside you. In the darkest corners of your soul."

Number Five: "What is: The Garden?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Goner: "That's what they call the city. They should have called it the jungle."
Number Five: "Where is: The Garden?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Goner: "There's nothing outside of The Garden. If you cross the perimeter, you die."

(Characters)

Number Five: "Who is: Perfect 1?"
Goner: "It's whatever you want it to be."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect 1?"
Goner: "Wherever he wants to be."

Number Five: "Who is: Perfect 1?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Goner: "No-one really knows. At least I don't."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect 1?" (Number 5's second time asking)
Goner: "If he exists at all, he's probably far away from here."

Number Five: "Who is: Silva?"
Goner: "The silver one, you mean? She ranks 9th. She is a trickster. Slippery like an eel, running like mercury all around. She wants to kill us."
Number Five: "Where is: Silva?"
Goner: "She lives near the lake. But lately she's been stalking us in the residential districts. That's why agreed to let Balkan rule and protect us."

Number Five: "Who is: Tesla?"
Goner: "He is 10th in the heirarchy."
Number Five: "Where is: Tesla?"
Goner: "The power plant. In the industrial district up north."

A lot more of value from the goner this time, for sure.

Number Five - re-interviews - David

(General)

Number Five: "What is: Perfect?" (Number 5's second time asking)
David: "I don't know. I thought it was just another virtual reality game, a computer-generated world you could escape to on the weekends. But there's something wrong now, you can't leave."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect?" (Number 5's second time asking)
David: "I made the jump in Little Rock. Perfect Inc. is headquartered in California."

Number Five: "What is: The Garden?" (Number 5's second time asking)
David: "This part of Perfect is called The Garden. There's supposed to be more, but, I don't know how to get there."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect?" (Number 5's second time asking)
David: "Everywhere you can go to from here."

(Characters)

Number Five: "Who is: Perfect 1?" (Number 5's second time asking)
David: "Everyone's ultimate goal was to be Perfect 1. That was the whole point. Now I'm just trying to stay alive, and find a way out."
Number Five: "Where is: Perfect 1?" (Number 5's second time asking)
David: "The spire, I think. But I don't know how to get in. There's some secret to it."

Number Five: "Who is: Riberto?"
David: "He's the one who looks like he's made of ribbon. His rank is 6."
Number Five: "Where is: Riberto?"
David: "I saw him in the south residential district once. There's no telling where he is now."

Number Five: "Who is: Medusa?"
David: "Rank of 11. The guardian of the Pyramid. She's one of Perfect 1's most favorite.."
Number Five: "Where is: Medusa?"
David: "The pyramid."

(Items)

Number Five: "What is: DFA?"
David: "DFA? I've never heard of that one."

Number Five: "What is: Ice?"
David: "If you're ever facing a swarm of Goners, you can hit them with Ice and they will freeze long enough for you to kill them. Or, get away."
Number Five: "Where is: Ice?"
David: "I've only found it once, in the north residential district."

Number Five: "What is: Hex?" (Number 5's second time asking)
David: "Ever hear of a Panzer Faust? It's kind of like that."
Number Five: "Where is: Hex?" (Number 5's second time asking)
David: "It's hard to come by. Everyone wants it because it's about the best weapon you can find."

Number Five: "What is: Pushya?"
David: "It knocks people out of your way."

Number Five: "What is: Nukeya?"
David: "Pretty much what it sounds like. A nuclear projectile."
Number Five: "Where is: Nukeya?"
David: "It was the power plant at one time"

I definitely want Nukeya, by the way, and it's probably the hardest to find. David's the only one with advice on where to find it, and he always says the power plant. When we find it, we'll find out if he was right.
