Also, one last before we go. Iskenderun is an actual place, located in southern Turkey these days. It was originally named Alexandretta after Alexander the Great (like about a hundred other cities in the Middle East and Asia), then became al-Iskanderun under the Arabs and just Iskenderun under the Ottomans. Whether they thinking specifically of that city or a fictionalized one somewhere else I don't know, but they did film several scenes for the movie there. Apparently, they even built a mosque near the train station so they could it in the film.
